Education Budget 2025: Good News for Medical and Engineering Students, 75,000 Medical Seats and IIT Infrastructure Expansion

Budget 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several major announcements regarding education during the budget speech. Additional infrastructure will be developed in five major IIT institutions across the country, along with the expansion of IIT Patna. Plans are also underway to construct new hostels at IIT Patna. Furthermore, the government has allocated ₹500 crore for Artificial Intelligence (AI) education. Under this initiative, three AI Excellence Centres will be established to promote innovation in the technology sector.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Education Budget 2025: Increase in Medical Seats</h2>



This budget also brings good news for medical students. 75,000 new medical seats will be added over the next five years, including a plan to add 10,000 additional medical seats. In addition, the central government is launching the ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Pustak Yojana’ to make books in Indian languages digitally available. This initiative aims to provide students and researchers with high-quality reading material in their mother tongues.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Budget 2025: Other Key Announcements</h2>



10,000 Fellowships for Technical Research Over 10,000 fellowships will be provided for technical research at IITs and IISc over the next 5 years.



Broadband Connectivity for all Government Secondary Schools Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that all government secondary schools and primary health centres will be provided with broadband connectivity.



Five National Centres for Skill Development The Finance Minister announced the establishment of five national centres for skills with global expertise.

Budget Live Updates: Income Tax Reforms Announced—Find Out How Much You&#39;ll Pay!

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has focused this budget on achieving the goal of making India a &#8220;developed India&#8221; and described this budget as a step towards accelerating development. She also emphasized that India&#8217;s economy has become the fastest-growing economy globally, reflecting the country&#8217;s increasing economic strength.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The four main pillars of the budget are:</h2>

<li>Garib (Poor) – Expansion of government welfare schemes for the poor.</li>



<li>Youth – Focus on providing employment and educational opportunities for youth.</li>



<li>Annadata (Food Providers) – Advancement of schemes for the welfare of farmers.</li>



<li>Nari (Women) – Announcement of new initiatives for women&#8217;s empowerment.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Tax Slab: Understand how much tax you will have to pay</h2>



The Finance Minister stated – My tax proposals are driven by a spirit of boosting ease of doing business, encouraging voluntary compliance, and reducing compliance burden. The objectives of these proposals include personal income tax reforms with a special focus on the middle class, rationalising TDS and TCS to reduce hardships, and boosting employment and investment.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seven types of tariffs abolished</h2>



The government aims to simplify and streamline the customs structure to promote domestic manufacturing, value addition, and exports. This rationalisation is part of a comprehensive review of the customs tariff structure announced in the July 2024 budget.



In addition to the seven rates removed in the 2023-24 budget, Budget 2025 will see seven more tariff rates removed, leaving only eight tariff rates, including a zero rate. This step is to address duty inversion and ease trade.



The government has also proposed that more than one cess or surcharge will not be levied. Simultaneously, 82 tariff lines will be exempted from the social welfare surcharge, reducing the tax burden on specific goods.



These changes will bring greater transparency and stability to trade and help make India&#8217;s manufacturing sector more competitive.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Budget Announcements for Bihar</h2>



Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed the establishment of a Makhana Board in Bihar in her budget speech today. Makhana (foxnuts), a nutritious food, is extensively produced and consumed in Bihar. She mentioned that Makhana producers have greatly benefited under the &#8216;One District One Product&#8217; scheme. Furthermore, the Makhana Research Centre has been granted national institute status, and Makhana has also received GI tagging.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Farmer Budget 2025: Big announcement for farmers</h2>



The Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaan Krishi Yojana will promote irrigation and cover 100 districts. This programme will help 1.7 crore farmers in building rural prosperity and will be launched in partnership with states. It aims to create ample opportunities in rural areas. It will improve the availability of short-term and long-term credit.



Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the government will launch a 6-year mission for self-reliance in pulses and a comprehensive programme for vegetables and fruits will be launched. The board will focus on Arhar, Masoor and Urad pulses. In addition, a Makhana board will be established in Bihar. The scheme aims to provide ample opportunities for rural areas so that migration is a choice, not a necessity. The Finance Minister said that a national mission on high-yielding seeds will be launched. Additionally, a five-year mission for cotton productivity will be launched.



Farmers will receive short-term loan facilities from Kisan Credit Cards, for which the loan limit will be increased from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh. Furthermore, the government will bring an enabling framework for sustainable exploitation of fisheries from Indian Exclusive Economic Zones and high seas, paying special attention to the Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep archipelagoes, Nirmala Sitharaman said.

Union Budget 2025: 10 Major Announcements for UP with Special Benefits for Women, Farmers, and Students!

Union Budget 2025: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget on 1 February. This budget offers significant benefits to the people of Uttar Pradesh. This includes not only students but also farmers, Dalit women, and the general public. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Uttar Pradesh Receives a Substantial Budget Allocation</h2>



The Union Budget 2025 has allocated a total of ₹1.5 lakh crore for the development of states.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Welfare Scheme for Dalit Women</h2>



Union Budget 2025 includes schemes for the welfare of Dalit women. It is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh has the largest Dalit population in India. The state&#8217;s total population is approximately 25 crore, encompassing 75 districts. Approximately 22% of the population belongs to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Seats in ITIs</h2>



The Finance Minister announced an increase in the number of seats in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of ITIs in the country, with a total of 3,204 ITIs, including 305 government and 2,899 private institutions. These institutes offer training in over 68 trades.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) Scheme</h2>



Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the third phase of the UDAN scheme, which will include 120 new cities. This move will allow approximately 4 crore passengers to benefit from affordable air travel. Uttar Pradesh has 24 small airports under this scheme, including prominent ones in Kanpur, Kushinagar, Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, and Varanasi.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increase in Kisan Credit Card Scheme Limit</h2>



Over 7 crore farmers nationwide, including those involved in livestock and aquaculture, will now be able to access higher loan amounts through the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Under the new scheme, the loan limit has been increased from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh. With over 2.25 crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh, this state will benefit the most from this scheme.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Budget Allocation for AI Education</h2>



Nirmala Sitharaman made several key announcements for students in the budget. She stated that 6,500 new seats will be added in IITs and 3 AI centres will be opened. Additionally, there will be a 7,500-seat increase in medical education over the next 5 years.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Connecting Schools to the Internet</h2>



A decision has been made to connect primary and secondary schools to the internet. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of primary and secondary schools, with a total of 4.5 lakh basic schools.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Connecting Primary Health Centres to the Internet</h2>



Uttar Pradesh has 2,923 primary health centres, the highest in the country. All these centres will now be connected to the internet, providing accessible, affordable, and available healthcare services to the people.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Benefits for Leather Industry Workers</h2>



A new incentive scheme has been launched for the footwear and leather sector, directly benefiting workers in major leather cities like Kanpur and Agra. The leather industry is currently facing a severe crisis due to a decline in exports. This scheme aims to create 22 lakh new jobs, achieve a turnover of ₹4 lakh crore, and achieve exports of ₹1.1 lakh crore.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Insurance Scheme for Gig Workers</h2>



The Union Budget announced a new insurance scheme for one crore gig workers (such as delivery agents, cab drivers, etc.) across the country. Under this scheme, those registering on the E-shram Portal will receive health coverage and social security benefits like PF.

Weather Update: With the end of January, Rajasthan&#8217;s temperatures continue to fluctuate. The Meteorological Department&#8217;s new prediction is that the weather in Rajasthan will change from tomorrow, Sunday. A new western disturbance will become active, leading to the possibility of rain with thunderstorms in parts of 6 divisions of Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, another strong western disturbance will be active during 3-4 February. There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in some areas. Parts of Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions are likely to experience rain with thunderstorms.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature to Rise Due to Western Disturbance</h2>



According to the Meteorological Centre, the cold weather will persist for the next seven days. In the first week, a new western disturbance becoming active will cause light rain in many parts of the state. According to the Meteorological Department, a weak western disturbance will have a partial effect on the state until Sunday. Due to its effect, the temperature is likely to increase by one to two degrees in 48 hours.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dungarpur Hottest in the State</h2>



The weather in the state remained mostly dry in the last 24 hours (Friday). The weather was warm during the day and cold at night. Strong sunshine during the day gave a feeling of warmth, while cold winds at night increased the cold. The highest temperature was recorded at 29.8 degrees Celsius in Dungarpur and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius in Mount Abu. Jaipur&#8217;s maximum temperature was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 12 degrees Celsius.

Pakistan Snubs Top Run-Scorer Saim Ayub for 2025 Champions Trophy

Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan has finally announced its squad for the Champions Trophy. Fakhar Zaman, who was dropped from the team in October 2024 following a social media post disagreement with the PCB, has been included. Faheem Ashraf, who last played an international match in 2023, also makes a comeback. Khushdil Shah and Saud Shakeel have also been included in the team. This same team will also play a tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand in preparation for the Champions Trophy.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Run-Scorer Last Year</h2>



Saim Ayub, Pakistan&#8217;s highest run-scorer last year, has not been included in the team. Saim Ayub scored 515 runs in 9 ODIs last year at a remarkable average of 64.4, including three centuries and one half-century. His highest score in 2024 was 113*. It has been reported that he is unavailable due to an ankle fracture sustained during the Test series against the West Indies, specifically during the Cape Town Test.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Naqvi Says Ayub&#8217;s Return Still Four Weeks Away</h2>



While it was initially announced that he would be out for six weeks, it is now believed that his recovery in time for the Champions Trophy is highly unlikely. Ahead of the Champions Trophy, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that Ayub will still require at least four weeks to recover.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shafique Omitted After Three Ducks Against South Africa</h2>



Abdullah Shafique has been left out of the squad due to poor form. He became the first player to be dismissed for a duck in each match of a recent ODI series against South Africa, a series Pakistan won 3-0. This means Pakistan will field a completely different opening pair, with Fakhar Zaman potentially partnering Babar Azam or Saud Shakeel. Given Babar&#8217;s success in Test cricket, the PCB considers him suitable for opening.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam Could Open</h2>



A statement by Asad Shafiq , a member of the selection panel, indicated that Fakhar&#8217;s opening partner could be Babar Azam or Saud Shakeel, depending on various factors such as conditions, opposition, and match strategy. Both players are highly capable in the top order. Babar regularly opens in T20s and also performed exceptionally well in the Cape Town Test, scoring two fifties in the absence of Saim Ayub.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">First Champions Trophy Match Against New Zealand</h2>



Pakistan&#8217;s first Champions Trophy match is against New Zealand in Karachi on 19 February. They will then travel to Dubai to play against India on 23 February. Their final group match is against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on 27 February.

Jos Buttler on Harshit Rana Concussion Substitute: Everyone was surprised to see Harshit Rana bowling in the second innings of the India vs England match, as his name wasn&#8217;t in the playing eleven. Fans later learned that he was brought in as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. This was Harshit Rana&#8217;s T20 International debut, as a concussion substitute. He made the most of the opportunity, taking three wickets for 33 runs in his four overs. His role was crucial in turning the match around. However, England captain Jos Buttler expressed his displeasure after the match. He strongly reacted to the decision to bring in a proper pacer instead of a batting all-rounder from the Indian team.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘This isn’t a like-for-like replacement – Buttler’</h2>



After the match, Jos Buttler said that Harshit Rana is not a like-for-like replacement for Shivam Dube and the England team does not agree with the Indian team management&#8217;s decision. He said, &#8220;This isn&#8217;t a like-for-like replacement. We disagree with that.&#8221; He quipped, &#8220;Either Shivam Dube has increased his bowling speed by almost 25 miles per hour, or Harshit Rana has improved his batting. We should have actually won this match, but we disagree with this decision.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘We had a great start’</h2>



Jos Buttler further added, &#8220;We had a great start. We took wickets in the powerplay and at the end of the batting powerplay we were in a great position. We should have won the match. Dube played a really good innings. We were in a great position with the bat and then lost a few wickets quickly. It&#8217;s just about emphasising how we want to play? I&#8217;m really impressed with the commitment we&#8217;ve shown to that. I think we can show more commitment and when we do that we&#8217;ll play better ourselves.&#8221;



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This is the ICC rule</h2>



ICC rule 1.2.7.3 on concussion replacements states that the ICC match referee may generally approve a concussion replacement request if the replacement is a like-for-like player, so that his inclusion will not give his team an unfair advantage in the remainder of the match. Rule 1.2.7.7 also states that the match referee&#8217;s decision regarding any concussion replacement request shall be final and no team shall have the right of appeal.

ICC rule 1.2.7.3 on concussion replacements states that the ICC match referee may generally approve a concussion replacement request if the replacement is a like-for-like player.

Rajasthan Bureaucratic Reshuffle: 166 IAS-RAS Transfers Announced

Jaipur: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Rajasthan government late Friday night transferred 53 IAS and 113 RAS officers. Following the recent abolition of three divisions and nine districts, IAS officers posted in these districts had been awaiting posting orders. Additionally, several departments were operating with additional workloads.



This led to a prolonged wait for the transfer list. The Personnel Department had also been working on the list for several days. The transfer list includes changes in postings within the Chief Minister&#8217;s Office. This order has assigned new responsibilities to several senior officers.
