<p><strong>Pakistan:</strong> Pakistan&#8217;s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has stated that there are approximately 22 million beggars in the country. Asif expressed concern over the steadily increasing number of beggars, highlighting that this is no longer a domestic issue alone. Pakistanis are resorting to begging in foreign countries as well, damaging the nation&#8217;s image abroad. It is noteworthy that Pakistan&#8217;s total population is close to 240 million; thus, approximately one in ten Pakistanis is involved in begging. Begging has, in a way, become a national profession in Pakistan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Annual Income of ₹42 Billion</h2>



<p>Asif also revealed the annual earnings of these beggars. Addressing members of the Readymade Garments Association in Sialkot, Asif stated that their annual income totals ₹42 billion. Underscoring the severity of the problem, Khawaja mentioned having removed beggars from Sialkot twice, only to see them return in large numbers. He emphasised that these individuals harm the country&#8217;s international reputation and credibility.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pakistan&#8217;s Infamy for Seeking Loans</h2>



<p>Not only are its citizens, but Pakistan as a nation is also notorious worldwide for its extensive borrowing. Recent data indicates that Pakistan and Argentina are the two countries that have borrowed from the IMF (International Monetary Fund) the most, a total of 20 times. Pakistan&#8217;s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lamented on several occasions that whenever he visits Saudi Arabia or any other friendly country, it is assumed that he is there to seek loans.</p>

The Minister stated that this growing problem of begging among Pakistanis is creating difficulties for the country&#8217;s industrialists in obtaining foreign visas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Army Chief&#8217;s Extremist Speech and Attack on Hindu Minister</h2>



<p>To mislead the impoverished people of Pakistan, the rulers promote extremism. As a result, even the few Hindu ministers are not safe. On Saturday, the convoy of Kheel Das Kohistani, a Member of Parliament from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Minister of State for Religious Affairs, was attacked with tomatoes and potatoes, and slogans were raised against the federal government. He was unharmed in the attack. The protesters were opposing the government&#8217;s new canal project.</p>



<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called Kohistani and assured a thorough investigation into the incident. The Prime Minister stated, &#8216;Attacking public representatives is unacceptable. Those involved in the incident will be severely punished.&#8217;</p>

<p><strong>JEE Main Session 2 Success Story:</strong> The results of the JEE Main Session 2 were declared on the night of 18 April. This time, a total of 24 candidates achieved a 100 NTA score. In this year&#8217;s results, 3 candidates each from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh achieved 100 percentile. Two candidates each from West Bengal, Gujarat, and Delhi secured top ranks, while one candidate each from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh also topped the list. <p><strong>Bhopal Metro:</strong> The second phase of metro train trials has commenced. While previously, single metro rakes were observed running on the tracks, the trials now involve two rakes operating simultaneously in opposite directions. The Metro Rail Corporation has initiated these trials, running from the Subhash Nagar metro depot to the Kamlapati metro station and further to AIIMS.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trains Crossing Paths</strong></h2>



<p>This trial involves running trains in opposite directions on both tracks of the elevated line of the Bhopal Metro (Bhopal Metro). On the 6.22 km track, the trains are being made to cross each other three to four times. Currently, the speed is maintained at 50 km per hour. Corporation officials state that the metro will eventually run at 90 km per hour, with crossings also conducted at this speed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Commercial Run Planned for August</strong></h2>



<p>Under the <strong>metro train</strong> project, the aim is to commence commercial operations, i.e., running trains with passengers, by August. Indore is currently preparing for its commercial run, followed by Bhopal in three months. Work is underway on the metro tracks, lines, stations, and speed optimisation. In Bhopal, the Orange and Blue lines are slated for completion in 2027, aiming to run the metro on approximately 30 km of track from AIIMS to Karond and from Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri Tiraha, carrying regular passengers.</p>

<p>The film was to be directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, director of ‘Raid’ and ‘Raid 2’. In an interview with PTI, he stated that the script was ready and Salman Khan had immediately agreed to it. However, the biopic rights acquired for the film expired and were not renewed. This led to the project being halted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Years of Work Wasted</h2>



<p>Raj Kumar Gupta mentioned that he had spent the last five years researching the life of Ravindra Kaushik. Salman Khan&#8217;s fans were also very excited about this film. But now this project has been shelved.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will the Film Be Made Again in the Future?</h2>



<p>Currently, there is no official update regarding the remake of this biopic. However, if this film were made and Salman played the role of Ravindra Kaushik, it could have been a major turning point in his career.</p>

The relaxation rules for the RA-I position are the same. Candidates who have completed professional courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible to apply for either JRF or RA-I positions.</p>

MP Nursing Scam: 70 Doctors and Nurses Served Notices, Principal Removed


<p><strong>MP Nursing Scam:</strong> The Department of Health and Medical Education has taken major action in the nursing scam. Radhika Nair, the principal of the government nursing college at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, has been removed from her post. Leela Nalvanshi has been given the responsibility of principal in her place. Charge sheets have been issued against more than 12 nursing staff and doctors from GMC, along with 70 people across the state, and departmental inquiries have been ordered. These include the doctors and nursing staff who were part of the teams verifying nursing colleges. </p>



<p>Many colleges were given reports stating they were suitable, even though they did not meet the criteria. Later, an investigation by a High Court committee found these colleges unsuitable.</p>



<p>It may be noted that in May 2024, the CBI declared 169 unsuitable nursing colleges (MP Nursing Scam) in the state as suitable. This included four colleges in the capital city that lacked their own building, labs, and hospitals. The High Court questioned the investigation and ordered a review of all suitable colleges. The government subsequently cancelled the recognition of 66 nursing colleges.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Allegations of Protecting the Guilty</strong></h2>



<p>Ravi Parmar, the state vice-president of NSUI, has alleged an attempt to protect several accused officials and employees. A year ago, the then Medical Education Commissioner issued notices to approximately 110 nursing staff and doctors, but charge sheets have only been issued against 70. A warning has been given that if impartial action is not taken in the case and all the guilty are not punished, NSUI will launch a state-wide agitation.</p>


<p>In a major development in the MP Nursing Scam, the Department of Health and Medical Education has taken significant action. Radhika Nair, the principal of the Government Nursing College at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, has been removed from her post.</p>

<p>Australian opener Travis Head, alongside young Abhishek Sharma, has been opening the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024. Against Mumbai, he achieved this feat, scoring 28 runs off 29 balls. Travis reached his 1000 runs in 575 balls, placing him second only to Andre Russell (545). In the list of batsmen who have scored 1000 runs in the fewest balls in IPL history, Heinrich Klaasen is in third place, achieving this feat in 594 balls. India&#8217;s veteran Virender Sehwag is fourth with 1000 runs in 604 balls, while Glenn Maxwell reached the milestone in 610 balls.</p>



<p>During the match against Mumbai Indians, Travis Head was caught near the boundary off a Hardik Pandya delivery. However, the ball was a no-ball. Despite this, Head couldn&#8217;t capitalise on the opportunity. He was eventually dismissed for 28 runs off 29 balls, caught by Mitchell Santner off Will Jacks&#8217; bowling. The 31-year-old Travis Head represented Royal Challengers Bangalore before being picked by SRH for IPL 2024. He is the 99th batsman in IPL history to score 1000 or more runs.</p>



<p>So far in 32 matches, he has scored 1014 runs at an average of 37.25 and a strike rate of 174.06. By the end of his 32nd match, he had faced 578 balls and has scored one century and seven half-centuries in the IPL. In the list of highest run-scorers in IPL history, Virat Kohli leads with 8252 runs in 258 matches. Shikhar Dhawan is second with 6769, and Rohit Sharma is third with 6684 runs in 262 matches.</p>

Many viewers are calling it Sunny Deol&#8217;s best film, while others consider his performance weaker compared to ‘Gadar 2’. The eighth-day collection is now available. On its eighth day of release, Thursday, 17 April, ‘Jaat’ collected a remarkable ₹4 crore. The film also earned ₹4 crore on its seventh day. There has been no decline in collections between these two days. The film is steadily moving towards recouping its budget. The film&#8217;s total collection now stands at ₹61.50 crore.</p>
