
<p><strong>35 Lakhs Cheated Under Pretext of Crypto Investment:</strong> A computer trader from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has been defrauded of approximately 35 lakh rupees under the pretext of online tasks and cryptocurrency investment. Anuj Kumar, a resident of Harthala Himgiri Colony in the Civil Lines police station area, was duped of this amount through a Telegram group.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Added to Telegram, Then the Fraud Began</h2>



<p>The victim, Anuj Kumar, was added to a Telegram group named &#8220;Data Task 18-7100&#8221; on 10 April 2025. This group enticed members with the promise of earning money from home by completing online tasks. Initially, Anuj was given some easy tasks, for which he received small rewards. This gradually increased his trust.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Millions Swindled Under the Guise of Cryptocurrency Investment</h2>



<p>After some time, the accused lured Anuj into investing in a cryptocurrency called Indicoin. By tempting him with profits, approximately 35 lakh rupees were transferred from a total of five accounts belonging to Anuj and his family to various bank accounts between 10 April and 21 April 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Approached Cyber Police After Realising the Fraud</h2>



<p>Upon realising the fraud, Anuj Kumar filed a complaint at the cyber police station. The cyber police have registered a case against an unknown perpetrator and launched an investigation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Police Investigating, Search for Accused Continues</h2>



<p>The Cyber Police Station stated that a report has been filed against an unknown individual based on the victim&#8217;s complaint. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused and recover the defrauded amount.</p>

<p>Today marks a historic day for Jammu and Kashmir, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world&#8217;s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Rail Bridge. This bridge is situated over the Chenab River in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir and forms part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. This mega-project has a total cost of approximately ₹46,000 crore, encompassing the Chenab Bridge, Anji Bridge, and Vande Bharat train services.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">An Engineering Marvel</h2>



<p>This 1.3-kilometre-long railway bridge stands 359 metres above the Chenab River bed, 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris and approximately five times the height of the Qutub Minar in Delhi. Its construction cost is reported to be around ₹1,486 crore. The bridge is capable of withstanding strong winds of 266 km/h and earthquakes of up to 8 on the Richter scale. Built with a blast-proof design and 30,000 tonnes of steel, this bridge is expected to last for 125 years.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Connecting Kashmir to the Nation</h2>



<p>The Chenab Bridge will connect the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the country throughout the year, overcoming the challenges previously posed by snowfall and landslides during winter. The journey from Katra to Srinagar will be reduced to just 3 hours via Vande Bharat Express, saving 2-3 hours of travel time. This improved connectivity will boost tourism, trade, and economic development.</p>

<p><strong>Eid al-Adha 2025:</strong> The Delhi government has issued an advisory regarding Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha) 2025. According to the advisory, the sacrifice of cows, calves, camels, and other prohibited animals is banned during Bakrid. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the advisory.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Strict Adherence to Advisory Mandatory &#8211; Kapil Mishra</h2>



<p>Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra stated that they will not tolerate any illegal sacrifice or cruelty during the festival. He emphasised that strict adherence to the Delhi government&#8217;s advisory is mandatory, and strict action will be taken against violators.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sacrifice Banned in Streets and Alleys</h2>



<p>The Delhi government&#8217;s advisory clearly prohibits sacrifices on roadsides, in alleys, or any public place. The sacrifice can only be performed at designated locations.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the Delhi government has also banned sharing pictures or videos of the sacrifice on social media to prevent hurting religious sentiments or creating social tension.</p>

<p>According to the government advisory, the sacrifice of cows and camels will be considered a crime as these animals are not in the food category. This ban is based on existing laws such as the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1960), the Animal Transport Rules (1978), and the Food Safety and Standards Act (2006).</p>

<p>Political activity has intensified in Maharashtra in recent days regarding Bakrid. Statements and decisions by various parties on this issue have created controversy. <p><strong>Bengaluru Stampede:</strong> Eleven people died and 33 were injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru&#8217;s Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday during celebrations following Royal Challengers Bangalore&#8217;s (RCB) IPL victory. The police have taken significant action in this case. According to ANI, RCB&#8217;s marketing head Nikhil Sosele and three individuals from the event management company have been arrested. Police are questioning all those arrested.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Death of a Young Man Who Went to See a Girl for Marriage</h2>



<p>A 26-year-old man, Poorna Chandra, also lost his life in the stampede. Poorna Chandra, a resident of KR Pete taluk in Mandya district, had recently come to Bengaluru to meet a girl. According to his father, RB Chandru, he went to the stadium after meeting the girl for marriage and did not inform his family. At 6 pm, he received a call informing him that his son had died in the stampede. Poorna Chandra&#8217;s body was first spotted on social media and later identified at Vydehi Hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Death of a Man Who Went to Collect His Transfer Certificate</h2>



<p>In this incident, Shivalingu, a resident of Yadgir, had come to Bengaluru to collect his transfer certificate. After collecting his certificate, he decided to go to the Chinnaswamy Stadium. His father, Honnappa, stated that he was watching TV and blaming people. &#8220;I was wondering why so many people needed to go there,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t know my son had also gone there. Later, I received a call that my son was no more.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Big Dreams Shattered’</h2>



<p>Sahana Rajesh, a software engineer, also died in the incident. She had gone to Chinnaswamy Stadium with eight friends to watch the RCB team, without informing her family. Sahana Rajesh&#8217;s father said that no one should have to go through such a tragic incident. &#8220;She was a girl who never broke our (parents&#8217;) trust,&#8221; he said. &#8220;She had big dreams, and now everything is shattered.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Government Announces Compensation</h2>



<p>The Karnataka government has announced compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of the deceased, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has announced ₹5 lakh. RCB also announced ₹10 lakh in aid and the ‘RCB Cares’ fund for the injured. A magisterial inquiry and a judicial commission have been set up to investigate the accident, leading to the suspension of several officials, including the Bengaluru Police Commissioner.</p>

<p><strong>Undertrial killed by inmates, Delhi Saket court</strong>: A violent clash occurred on Tuesday in the Saket court complex in Delhi, resulting in the death of an undertrial prisoner. The 24-year-old, Aman, died due to a violent altercation with other inmates in the court&#8217;s lockup. Police have registered a murder case, linking the incident to an old rivalry, and launched an investigation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Aman was murdered in the court lockup</h2>



<p>Aman was lodged in barrack number 8 of Tihar Jail. He was accused of murdering a person in 2017 and was brought to the Saket court for a hearing in the same case. At approximately 9:30 AM, while Aman was sitting with other prisoners in cell number 5, an argument broke out with another inmate, Jitender. According to officials, there was pre-existing tension between the two, dating back to before their arrival at the court.</p>



<p>The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight. Jitender kicked Aman forcefully, causing his head to hit a wall and then a commode. Following this, Jitender and his accomplice, Jaydev, attacked Aman. They placed their feet on Aman&#8217;s chest and attempted to strangle him.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Police action at the scene and death at the hospital</h2>



<p>A police constable stationed outside the court immediately rushed to the lockup and attempted to rescue Aman. He was immediately taken to Safdarjung Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 11 AM due to severe head injuries and bleeding.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The truth behind the old enmity</h2>



<p>DCP Ankit Chauhan of the South district stated that the old enmity between Jitender and Aman stemmed from an attack outside the jail in 2024. In that incident, Aman allegedly attacked Jitender and his brother with a knife. Jitender and Jaydev, both accused of murder, are being held in the Saket court lockup for questioning. The investigation is underway, and police officials are examining CCTV footage to uncover the full details of the incident.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Security arrangements in the court complex lockup</h2>



<p>The two-storey lockup block in Saket court houses numerous cells where undertrial prisoners are kept. Separate cells are allocated for VIP and high-security prisoners. At the time of the incident, cell number 5, where Aman and the two accused were held, was occupied by a total of 37 prisoners.</p>



<p>A police official stated that prisoners with known enmities are usually kept in separate cells, but there was no information about the tension between Aman and Jitender, hence they were kept in the same cell.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Thug Life&#8217;s Opening Collection </h2>



<p>Kamal Haasan&#8217;s film, <em>Thug Life</em>, is directed by Mani Ratnam. The film showcases a unique portrayal of Kamal Haasan. Fans eagerly awaited <em>Thug Life</em>, and that wait is now over. According to <strong>Sacnilk</strong> data, the film collected a phenomenal ₹17 crore on its opening day. Expectations are high that the film will become a blockbuster over the weekend and earn even more than its opening day collection.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam Collaborate After 38 Years </h2>



<p><em>Thug Life</em> marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after nearly 38 years. Besides Kamal Haasan, the film stars Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan TR, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar in pivotal roles.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Decline in Occupancy </h2>



<p>The Tamil version of <em>Thug Life</em> witnessed a decline in occupancy after its release. Morning shows had 50.66% occupancy, which slightly decreased to 50.35% in the afternoon and further dropped to 45.15% in the evening. The overall occupancy for the day was 48.72%. Pondicherry recorded the highest occupancy at 69.33%. It remains to be seen how Kamal Haasan&#8217;s film performs in theatres going forward.</p>

India vs England Test Series to be Renamed the &#39;Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy&quot;


<p><strong>India vs England Test Series 2025:</strong> The five-match Test series between India and England, commencing on 20 June, will mark not only a cricketing event but also a significant historical change. This series will no longer be known as the “Pataudi Trophy,” but instead as the “Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why the Name Change?</h2>



<p>Previously, the series was known as the “Pataudi Trophy,” inaugurated in 2007 to commemorate 75 years of Test cricket between England and India. The trophy was named in honour of the Pataudi family, who contributed two legendary captains to Indian cricket: Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. However, in March 2025, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) informed the Pataudi family in a letter of their intention to retire the trophy.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sunil Gavaskar&#8217;s Sharp Reaction</h2>



<p>Former cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed strong disapproval of this decision. In his column, he wrote, “The recent news that the ECB is removing the Pataudi Trophy, awarded to the winners of the Test series played in England between England and India, is indeed disturbing. This is the first time a trophy named after individual players is being removed, although it is entirely the ECB&#8217;s decision and the BCCI may have been informed. This reflects insensitivity towards the Pataudi family&#8217;s contribution to cricket in England and India.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Now to be Called the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy</h2>



<p>The trophy will now be renamed in honour of two cricketing greats from India and England: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson. Similar to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played against Australia, it will now be known as the “Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Records of the Two Legends</h2>



<p>Sachin Tendulkar, with 15,921 runs, holds the record for the most runs scored in Test cricket history. The 52-year-old former player played 200 Tests between 1989 and 2013. Meanwhile, Anderson, with 704 wickets, is England&#8217;s all-time leading wicket-taker and the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket. The two legends faced each other in 14 Test matches, with Anderson dismissing Tendulkar nine times – a record for the most dismissals of this Indian batsman by any bowler.</p>

<p><strong>UP PCS Mains Exam 2024:</strong> The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has issued a significant update regarding the PCS 2024 main examination. The commission has announced the rejection of applications from 259 candidates. These candidates will not be permitted to participate in the main examination commencing on 29 June. However, the commission has also granted some candidates an opportunity to appeal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reasons for Application Rejection</h2>



<p>The primary reason for application rejection was the failure to submit hard copies on time. 138 candidates submitted their applications online but failed to submit the hard copy to the commission office by 1 April, resulting in the cancellation of their applications.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Reasons for Rejection</h2>



<p>One candidate mistakenly submitted an application for 2023 instead of 2024.</p>



<p>One candidate lacked an intermediate certificate.</p>



<p>One candidate&#8217;s date of birth did not match their high school certificate.</p>



<p>One candidate applied under the EWS category but submitted an OBC certificate.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Educational Qualification Discrepancies</h2>



<p>38 candidates were found to lack the necessary educational qualifications for the posts they had applied for.</p>



<p>25 candidates submitted only educational documents instead of the prescribed application form.</p>



<p>Three candidates completed the required qualifications after the application deadline, leading to the invalidation of their applications.</p>



<p>Applications under the Freedom Fighter category were also rejected.</p>



<p>26 candidates applied under the freedom fighter quota but did not attach the necessary certificates, resulting in the rejection of their applications.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Appeal Deadline</h2>



<p>The commission clarified that candidates whose applications have been rejected can present their case by 5 PM on 11 June via registered post or in person. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Next Steps</h2>



<p>The PCS 2024 main examination is scheduled to begin on 29 June. The preliminary examination results were declared on 28 February, with 15,066 candidates declared successful for 947 posts.</p>
