Snake Bites: Since the onset of the monsoon season in Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh, there has been a significant rise in snakebite cases. On Friday, four people were admitted to the district hospital after snakebites, one of whom, a woman, died. Between Saturday and Sunday night, five more people were victims of snakebites, resulting in two more deaths, including a teenage girl. Three individuals remain hospitalised.
Most cases are emerging from rural areas. Negligence by ambulance services has also come to light in these snakebite cases. Delays in ambulance arrival led to treatment delays for an elderly woman and a teenage girl, resulting in their deaths.
