CBSE 10th Board Exam: From 2026, students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will get two attempts to pass their Class 10 board exams. Students who are not adequately prepared for a particular subject can opt to skip it in the first attempt; however, passing that subject will be mandatory in the second attempt. The CBSE Governing Body approved a proposal on Tuesday to reduce academic stress and provide students with an additional opportunity to improve their performance. Under this, the Class 10 exam will now be held twice a year. The first and second iterations of the board exams will also serve as supplementary exams, and no special exam will be conducted under any circumstances.



According to the draft guidelines approved by the CBSE Governing Body, the first phase of the Class 10 board exam will be scheduled between February and March, and the second phase in May. Both exams will cover the entire syllabus to comprehensively assess students&#8217; knowledge and skills. However, practical and internal assessments will be conducted only once a year. Students will have the opportunity to appear in both sessions and choose the session most suitable for their preparation.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Feedback by 9th March</h2>



It was officially stated that the draft criteria will now be placed in the public domain, and stakeholders can provide their feedback by March 9th. The policy will then be finalised. According to the draft criteria, the first phase of the exam will be held from February 17th to March 6th, while the second phase will be held from May 5th to



Same Exam Centres for Both Attempts A senior board official said that both exams will be conducted based on the entire syllabus, and candidates will be allocated the same exam centre for both attempts. The examination fee will be increased and collected for both exams at the time of application.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current System</h2>



Currently, board exams for Classes 10 and 12 are held between February and March. During Covid, CBSE had divided the board exams into two sessions as a one-time measure. However, the board reverted to the traditional year-end exam format the following year.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Questions You May Have</h2>



1- Is it mandatory to take the exam both times? No, it will depend on the students. They can appear in the exam once or twice. Also, if they do not perform well in a subject, they can retake that subject in the second exam.



2- Will practical and internal assessments be held both times? Board exams will be held twice a year, but practical and internal assessments will be conducted only once a year.



3- Will the syllabi for both exams be different? Both exams will be based on the entire syllabus. The exam format will be the same.



4- How will the exam result be determined? If a student takes the exam twice, the better result will be considered final. For example, if the marks are lower in the second exam, the marks of the first exam will be considered final.



5- What will be the difference in exam fees and registration? Registration for both exams will have to be done at the same time. If the option to take the exam twice is chosen, the fee will be collected together. This clearly indicates that the exam fee will increase.



The new exam framework has created seven categories of subjects: Language-1, Language-2, Elective-1, Elective-2, Elective-3, Regional and Foreign Language, and other subjects.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Two-Tier System in Science and SST</h2>



The CBSE Governing Body, making another change, has decided to implement a two-tier system for Science and Social Science subjects in Class 9 from 2026. Based on the difficulty level, it will be divided into Basic and Advanced. After the Governing Body&#8217;s approval, the way is now clear to implement it from the next session. Sources said that in 2028, the Basic and Advanced papers for both Science and Social Science subjects in Class 10 may be separate. This decision has been taken under the new National Education Policy. This system is currently in place for Mathematics.

The Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, has issued a warning that a new western disturbance is likely to become active in Rajasthan, bringing the possibility of rain with thunderstorms in the western and northern parts of the state between 27 February and 1 March. The rest of the state is expected to experience dry weather.



Temperatures have been rising sharply during the day in Rajasthan in recent days. In many places, fans have even become necessary during the daytime. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has once again predicted the possibility of rain in some parts of Rajasthan.



The Meteorological Department believes that a western disturbance will become active in the northwestern parts of Rajasthan. This will cause a sudden change in the weather. A case has come to light where, between the nights of 23rd and 24th February, a house in Keshar Nagar was burgled, with ₹10 lakh in cash and ₹5 lakh worth of jewellery stolen. The police have registered a case against unknown criminals and are investigating.



According to police information, Dinesh Agrawal, a resident of Keshar Nagar, filed a complaint stating that he and his family had gone to Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela and the house was locked. 



Between the night of 23rd and 24th February, unknown thieves broke into the house and stole ₹10 lakh in cash and ₹5 lakh worth of gold and silver jewellery from a cupboard before fleeing. Incidents of theft are increasing in the city, and the police appear to be failing to prevent them.

REET 2025: Free bus travel and special trains for Rajasthan exam candidates

REET Exam 2025: Jaipur. Candidates appearing for the REET exam in Rajasthan will be able to travel free of charge to their examination centres on Rajasthan Roadways buses. In addition, special trains have also been arranged for REET candidates.

If a candidate&#8217;s exam is on 27 February, they can travel free on Roadways buses from 25 February to 1 March. Similarly, if a candidate&#8217;s exam is on 28 February, they can travel free on Roadways buses from 26 February to 2 March.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Facility Available on Roadways&#8217; Blue Line Buses</h2>



This facility will be provided only on Roadways&#8217; Blue Line buses. The REET exam for teacher recruitment will be held on 27 and 28 February in Rajasthan. More than 14,29,800 students have registered to appear for this exam across the state.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Special Trains for REET Exam</h2>



The North Western Railway is operating special train services – Sri Ganganagar-Daurai (Ajmer)-Sri Ganganagar and Bharatpur-Jaipur-Bharatpur REET Exam Specials – to provide convenient and safe travel for candidates participating in the REET exam 2025.



Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer, North Western Railway, informed that the Sri Ganganagar-Daurai (Ajmer)-Sri Ganganagar REET Exam Special will depart from Sri Ganganagar at 3:35 pm on 27 February and arrive in Daurai at 6:55 am the next day. Similarly, the Daurai (Ajmer)-Sri Ganganagar REET Exam Special will depart from Daurai on 28 February. In addition, the Bharatpur-Jaipur-Bharatpur REET Exam Special will depart from Bharatpur on Wednesday. A Medta Road-Bharatpur REET Exam Special will also commence on Wednesday.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1,731 Examination Centres Established in 41 Districts</h2>



1,731 examination centres have been established across 41 districts in Rajasthan. The REET exam will be conducted in three shifts over two days at these centres. Jaipur will see the highest number of candidates for the state-wide REET exam, with 2,70,018 candidates. 233 examination centres have been set up in Jaipur city for this purpose. Balotra will have the lowest number of candidates, with 11 examination centres established.

REET Exam 2025: Candidates appearing for the REET exam in Rajasthan will be able to travel free of cost to their examination centres on roadways buses. In addition, special trains have also been arranged for REET candidates.

REET Candidates Free Travel

Coimbatore police have arrested five college students for allegedly cultivating cannabis at their rented accommodation in Kuniyamuthur. 



Four of the five students are from Kerala, while one student is a local resident. Following their arrest, all five were remanded to Coimbatore Central Jail.



Coimbatore police acted on confidential information regarding drug sales and circulation in the area. 



Acting on this information, police conducted a surprise raid on the students&#8217; rented room in Kuniyamuthur. 



The raid uncovered 24 cannabis plants being cultivated inside the room. The plants were immediately seized, and the students were taken into custody for further investigation. 



Preliminary reports suggest the students were involved in cultivating the plants for personal use and possible distribution, though the exact motive is still under investigation.

MP News: Shocking news has emerged from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. A 26-year-old woman died on her way to the market to buy a wedding lehenga. 



She collapsed a short distance from her home. By the time her friend and younger sister took her to the hospital, it was too late, and doctors declared her dead. A silent heart attack is suspected as the cause of death.



26-year-old Sulbha Gupta lived with her sister in Ganesh Nagar. 



She was going to the market to buy a lehenga for a friend&#8217;s wedding that evening, accompanied by her younger sister and a friend. 



A short distance from home, at a crossroads, Sulbha suddenly collapsed. Her younger sister and friend immediately rushed her to the trauma centre in Tejaaji Nagar, where doctors pronounced her dead. 



According to the police, Sulbha hailed from Khargone, where her father owns a grocery shop. He was informed of the incident and subsequently arrived in Indore.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suspected Silent Heart Attack</h2>



Sulbha&#8217;s death is suspected to be caused by a silent heart attack. Police say the exact cause of death will only be known after the post-mortem report. Sulbha&#8217;s father, Sunil Gupta, said that Sulbha had recently passed a NET exam. 



She lived in Indore with her younger sister, Sakshi, and had been preparing for the exam for the past seven years.

Student Gives Birth During 10th Board Exam

A shocking incident has come to light from a government residential school hostel in Malkangiri district, Odisha, where a class 10 student gave birth to a baby girl after appearing for her board exams. 



The matter came to light when the student returned to the hostel on Monday after her exam and delivered the baby the same day. This incident has exposed the negligence of the school administration and the healthcare system, leading to the launch of an investigation.



According to the police, the student appeared for her exam at a school in the Chitrakonda area and, upon returning to the hostel, experienced labour pains. 



She was immediately taken to the Chitrakonda sub-divisional hospital and then transferred to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital. 



Hospital authorities stated that both the mother and the newborn are stable.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">School Administration Unaware of Student&#8217;s Pregnancy</h2>



The school headmaster expressed surprise, stating that male entry into the hostel is strictly prohibited, yet they are unaware of how the student became pregnant. 



He also mentioned that health workers are supposed to examine the students weekly, but in this case, it appears this responsibility was not properly fulfilled. This statement raises questions about how such a significant oversight occurred.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Parents Accuse School Administration</h2>



The student&#8217;s parents questioned the school administration about how their daughter&#8217;s pregnancy remained hidden until delivery. 



In response, District Welfare Officer Srinivas Acharya speculated that the student may have gone home during the holidays and the incident occurred there. 



However, this is merely speculation, and a departmental inquiry has been launched to ascertain the truth. The police have also taken a suspect into custody, accused of impregnating the student.



Furthermore, another shocking incident has been reported, where a loud bang occurred in the school when the student flushed a toilet. This incident caused panic among teachers and students, although it has no direct connection to the student&#8217;s delivery. Nevertheless, it raises questions about safety and maintenance within the school premises.

The student&#8217;s parents questioned the school administration about how their daughter&#8217;s pregnancy remained hidden until delivery.

Indian Railways: Non-interlocking work is being carried out for the doubling work between Molisar and Churu stations on the Bikaner-Sadulpur rail section. Due to this work, rail traffic will be affected.
