Iran seeks India&#39;s help to dodge Trump&#39;s &#39;tariff war&#39;, pushes for stronger ties


<p>US President Donald Trump’s ‘Tariff War’ is a global talking point. Trump’s ‘tariffs’ have increased concerns in many countries, especially those with strained relations with the US. Iran is one such country. Tensions have persisted between the US and Iran for years, with the US already imposing numerous sanctions. While there’s a 90-day moratorium currently in place, Iran is unlikely to receive any tariff relief thereafter. This has heightened Iran’s anxieties, prompting it to seek assistance from India.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does Iran want?</h2>



<p>India and Iran have enjoyed a long-standing, positive relationship. Considering India a close friend, Iran seeks to strengthen ties further to counter Trump’s ‘Tariff War’. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has also issued a statement on this matter.</p>

Ma 28-Year-Old Sarla Mishra Murder Case Reopens


<p>The case of Congress leader Sarla Mishra&#8217;s death on 14 February 1997 is being reopened after 28 years. Following a plea by Sarla&#8217;s brother, Anurag Mishra, the Bhopal court ordered the reopening of the file. Justice Palak Rai&#8217;s court acknowledged that the investigation was not conducted properly and ordered the police to reinvestigate and submit a report. </p>



<p>Anurag has questioned the previous investigation and levelled serious allegations against the then Chief Minister, Digvijaya Singh.</p>



<p>Anurag stated that his sister was murdered due to political rivalry. The investigation into Sarla&#8217;s death has been under scrutiny from the beginning. Allegations were made that the TT Nagar police of Bhopal labelled the murder as suicide. Accusations were also levelled against the doctor who performed the post-mortem. Anurag now expresses hope for justice.</p>



<p><strong>Perfunctory Investigation:</strong> The police recorded a statement on 7 March 1997 and another on 15 February 2010. The court, while ordering a reinvestigation, noted that the police had merely gone through the motions instead of conducting a proper investigation.</p>



<p><strong>Sarla was burning, doors were open:</strong> The investigation stated that when witness Rajiv Dubey arrived at the scene, Sarla was burning and the house doors were open. The court deemed this improbable.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Information relayed to the CM&#8217;s House</strong></h2>



<p>Police statements revealed that information about the burning was relayed to the Chief Minister&#8217;s house. Following instructions, Dr. Yogiraj Sharma went to the scene. He admitted that the room where the incident occurred had been cleaned, raising suspicions of tampering with evidence. Rajiv Dubey and Yogiraj did not inform the police for two and a half hours and did not attempt any treatment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Questions raised about the investigation</strong></h2>



<p>Questions were raised about the police investigation. It was claimed that Sarla had informed someone via phone. The court questioned how someone could dial a number while burning, using a landline phone. The police did not conduct a scientific investigation; the telephone was neither seized nor sent to the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory), and the burnt telephone was not recovered.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Contradictions in the report</strong></h2>



<ul>
<li><strong>Sarla</strong> (Sarla Mishra Murder Case): When Rajiv Dubey took Sarla to Hamidia Hospital at 1:30 AM on 15 February 1997, Dr. Anoop Dubey&#8217;s memo stated that her body was completely burnt and she was unable to speak; detailed records were not maintained. The death review report from Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, dated 19 February 1997, indicated 90% deep burns. The dying declaration raises doubts; someone with over 90% deep burns could not have signed a statement.</li>



<li><strong>Investigation:</strong> The investigating officer did not attempt to inform Sarla&#8217;s parents about the incident nor did they record their statements. Her father, Ashwini Mishra, opened Sarla&#8217;s house using a key obtained from Rajiv Dubey and found signs of a struggle.</li>



<li><strong>Crime Scene:</strong> A bottle was reported to have been seized at the scene. No fingerprints were taken from any object, and no viscera sample was collected or preserved during the post-mortem.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is the case about?</strong></h2>



<p>Congress leader Sarla Mishra was originally from Hoshangabad. Her father, Ashwini Mishra, was a freedom fighter. On 14 February 1997, she was admitted to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal with severe burns and later died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The BJP protested, leading to a ten-day uproar in the state assembly. On 27 February 1997, the then Home Minister, Charan Das Mahant, announced a CBI inquiry into Sarla&#8217;s death, but the notification was never issued. In a closure report on 27 March 2000, the police stated that Sarla did not blame anyone in her dying declaration. Her statement reportedly said, &#8220;Having failed in everything, I set myself on fire.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monsoon 2025: Expected to be better than average, IMD indicates</h2>



<p>Dr. Atul Kumar Singh, a senior meteorologist at the IMD, stated that the monsoon this year may perform better than average. According to him:</p>

<li>The conditions in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean are neutral, which is favourable for the monsoon.</li>



<li>There is a lower than normal snow cover in Eurasia and the Northern Hemisphere, which indicates good rainfall in India.</li>



<li>There is a 105% chance of rainfall, while the long-term average is 87 centimetres.</li>



<li>This situation could be particularly beneficial for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bundelkhand, and the Terai regions, where rain-dependent crops are more prevalent.</li>

<p>Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced a revolutionary change in road construction in India. He stated that roads will now be prefabricated in factories instead of being constructed traditionally on-site. This innovation will not only accelerate construction but also improve quality and reduce costs. This announcement was made during a programme in Uttar Pradesh, where Gadkari highlighted the benefits, referencing advanced technology from Malaysia. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is new technology?</h2>



<p>According to Gadkari, only the concrete mix portion of the road will be prepared at the construction site. All other components, such as pre-cast drains and other structures, will be manufactured in factories. This pre-cast technology will make road construction faster, more durable, and environmentally friendly. This Malaysian technology has already been used in Singapore and in the Chennai Metro project in India, resulting in savings of billions of rupees. Gadkari explained that this technology requires only two pillars within a 120-meter distance, saving the cost of a third pillar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Emphasis on Road Safety</h2>



<p>Gadkari also suggested several measures to reduce road accidents. He said that the height of dividers will be increased to three feet, and walls will be built on both sides to prevent people from crossing the road. Furthermore, pre-cast drains for the drainage system have been made mandatory, further enhancing quality.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Implementation in Uttar Pradesh</h2>



<p>Gadkari urged the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and his advisor Avnish Awasthi, to implement this technology in the state. He said that adopting this technology in Uttar Pradesh could revolutionise road construction. Gadkari also claimed that the use of new technologies will make India&#8217;s roads better than those in the USA by 2047.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Need for Administrative Reforms</h2>



<p>Gadkari also expressed displeasure over bureaucratic lethargy. He said that files do not move in the ministry unless there is a strong complaint. He advised officials to take quicker decisions and reduce delays in projects. He also expressed concern over the time taken to return contractors&#8217; bank guarantees and pending land acquisition cases.</p>

<p>Gadkari spoke of promoting the Automated and Intelligent Machine-Assisted Construction (AIMC) system, which will provide real-time data in every stage of construction. This technology will increase accuracy, speed, and quality in road construction.</p>

<p>Alwar News: A stray dog attack on a young child has once again highlighted the ongoing problem of stray dogs in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The incident occurred when a stray dog viciously mauled a young girl, inflicting severe facial injuries. The injured child is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. This same dog had previously attacked three other people.</p>



<p>According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday morning in Nangla Samavadi, a village near Alwar city. A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was playing outside her home when a stray dog attacked her. The child&#8217;s screams alerted her family and neighbours, but by then, the dog had already severely bitten her cheek and jaw. The girl was rushed to the district hospital in critical condition.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ten Stitches to the Child&#8217;s Cheek</h2>



<p>Doctors reported that the child sustained significant injuries. Ten stitches were required to close the wound on her left cheek. She also suffered injuries to her ear, head, and nose. However, her condition is now reported to be out of danger, and she continues to receive treatment at the hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Three Other People Also Attacked</h2>



<p>In addition to the child, the stray dog attacked three other people in Nangla Samavadi village, near Shalimar. While their injuries were less severe, angry villagers subsequently beat the dog to death.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Similar Incident One Month Ago</h2>



<p>It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred in Alwar just a month ago. In ward number 56, JK Nagar, a college student named Navya was attacked by a pack of dogs. Eight dogs surrounded and attacked the girl, inflicting multiple bites. A video of this incident also surfaced online.</p>

International Cyber Gang Busted in Rajasthan


<p><strong>Jaipur:</strong> Mandawa police in Jhunjhunu District, Rajasthan, have achieved a major breakthrough, uncovering an international cyber fraud ring operating from a hotel on Fatehpur bypass. The ring comprised 13 accused, including three women. Police seized 21 laptops, 21 mobile phones, and other electronic equipment from the scene.</p>



<p>Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Sharad Choudhary, the operation revealed that the accused posed as Microsoft employees, falsely claiming to be based in Washington, USA. They contacted US citizens, claiming to resolve technical issues related to Microsoft. Under this pretext, they tricked victims into downloading remote access apps like &#8220;Ultra Viewer&#8221; onto their computers. Once access was gained, they stole personal data and committed cyber fraud.</p>



<p>The accused used tools like &#8220;iBeam,&#8221; &#8220;Micro SIP,&#8221; &#8220;Turbo VPN,&#8221; and others to transfer calls, hack systems, and access victims&#8217; bank details. Those arrested hail from Manipur, Nagaland, Darjeeling, Delhi, and Mizoram.</p>



<p>Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A thorough investigation is underway to determine the total amount of money defrauded. Constable Vikram Singh played a significant role in this operation.</p>


<p>Under the guise of resolving technical issues related to Microsoft, members of the gang contacted US citizens, tricking them into downloading remote access apps like &#8220;Ultra Viewer&#8221; onto their computers. They then accessed the systems and stole private data, perpetrating cyber fraud.</p>
