
<p><strong>IIT Bombay:</strong> The demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is rapidly increasing in India and many countries worldwide. To meet this growing demand, the EV industry is developing rapidly. In India, major companies like Mahindra, Suzuki, and Tata have already launched electric vehicles or are in the process of doing so. Given this rapid growth, it&#8217;s clear that there are excellent career opportunities in the electric vehicle sector. Keeping this in mind, IIT Bombay has launched an online postgraduate diploma course on electric vehicles. This course will provide students and professionals interested in this field with the necessary skills and knowledge.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IIT Bombay: 18-Month Course</h2>



<p>IIT Bombay has launched an 18-month online PG diploma course on e-mobility (electric vehicles) starting this year. This course aims to make students and professionals experts in technologies related to electric vehicles. It has been developed in collaboration with the Edtech company Great Learning.</p>

<p>Students holding a BE or BTech degree can apply for this course. In addition, those with a four-year BSc or BS degree are also eligible to apply. Students with an MTech, MSc, or MS degree can also apply for admission to this course. However, the application process for this year has already ended, so interested candidates can apply next year.</p>



<p>By joining this PG diploma course at IIT Bombay, students and professionals can gain a good understanding of subjects such as electric vehicle design, battery technology, electrical drives and power electronics, subsystem modelling, battery degradation, and EV charger control systems.</p>

Naxalite with ₹5 Lakh Reward Apprehended in Narayanpur


<p><strong>CG Naxal News:</strong> Police have arrested Budhru alias Budru Poyam, a notorious Naxalite involved in the attack on the Amadhai Hills security camp. The accused had serious charges registered against him, including murder, IED blasts, road blockades, and displaying banners. A reward of ₹5 lakh had been announced by the government for his capture.</p>



<p>According to reports, on 24 June, during area domination by a joint team of the Orchha police and ITBP personnel in the Orchha police station area, a suspicious individual was apprehended near Japgunda and Rohtad. Interrogation revealed his identity as Budhru Poyam (39 years), a member of the Nelnar Area Committee, resident of Bhatbeda, Orchha police station.</p>



<p><strong>CG Naxal News:</strong> Budhru confessed to being an active member of the banned Naxalite organisation and to having carried out several Naxalite crimes, including the Komal Manjhi murder and the attack on the Amadhai Hills camp on 20 July 2020.</p>



<p>He was involved with approximately 20-30 armed Naxalites in the said attack, aiming to attack the police and loot weapons. A case of attempted murder and under the Arms Act has been registered against the arrested Naxalite at Chhotedongar police station, and he has been sent to jail.</p>

<p>Jaipur Crime News: In a film-style heist, a jewellery factory in the Manak Chowk police station area of Jaipur, the capital city, was burgled in the early hours of Friday. Masked thieves stole gold and diamond jewellery worth approximately ₹1.5 crore from a factory in just 6 minutes. The incident took place in the Chaura Rasta area, where the thieves rappelled down from a nearby building to enter the factory located on the fourth floor.</p>



<p>According to the police, the victim, Ankit Khandelwal, residing at Prithviraj Road, Ashok Nagar, filed a report. His factory is located in the Sitarama Ratnakoosh Bhavan, Nanaji Ki Gali, Chaura Rasta. He stated that finished gold jewellery, diamond sets, and valuables stored in precious boxes from the factory office were stolen.</p>



<p>The miscreants broke a windowpane to enter the factory and executed the crime in a matter of minutes before fleeing. CCTV footage revealed that two masked youths arrived on a motorcycle. One of them climbed up using a rope, entered the factory, and opened the drawers.</p>



<p>Police say the thieves planned the crime professionally. Preliminary investigations suggest that approximately 1200 grams of gold and other precious jewellery were stolen. The investigation has been expedited based on fingerprints and CCTV footage collected from the scene. All nearby CCTV cameras are being examined, and questioning of suspects has begun. Police suspect an insider may have been involved in the theft.</p>

<p>Faridabad: A cloud of uncertainty hangs over 8,000 houses in Faridabad district, in the National Capital Region bordering Delhi. The administration has declared Nehru Colony, spread across 60 acres, illegal and issued a notice to vacate the area within 15 days. This notice was issued by Vijay Singh, Deputy Tehsildar of the Rehabilitation Department. The notice states that the land belongs to the government and has been illegally occupied. Occupants must vacate the land within 15 days and formally surrender their occupation by appearing at Room Nos. 607 and 608, Faridabad Mini Secretariat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deadline: 10 July; Action Threatened Thereafter</h2>



<p>The administration&#8217;s notice clearly states that the land is the property of the state government and has been illegally occupied for years. The notice also clarifies that if the occupants do not vacate the houses within the stipulated timeframe, the administration will forcibly reclaim the land on 10 July with the assistance of the local police. This order has caused panic among the residents of the 8,000 houses in Nehru Colony.</p>



<p>Following the administration&#8217;s order, hundreds of people from Nehru Colony took to the streets on Friday evening. Angry over the administrative order, they blocked the Sainik Colony-Masjid Chowk, causing a massive traffic jam in the area for an hour. The protestors stated that they have been living in the area for years and the administration&#8217;s sudden order to vacate is inhumane and unconstitutional.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Locals Block Road for an Hour</h2>



<p>Locals demanded that the government first make adequate arrangements for their rehabilitation. The resulting traffic jam lasted for about an hour, with long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. The local police, informed of the situation, arrived and persuaded the people to disperse peacefully. One protester said, “We have been living here for 30 years. Our children&#8217;s education, the elderly&#8217;s medication, and our employment are all tied to this settlement. If the administration renders us homeless, we will take to the streets.” Another woman wept, saying, “Where will we go if our homes are demolished? Does the government not care about our lives?”</p>



<p>The administration also stated that this action is part of a larger plan to curb encroachment on government land. Deputy Tehsildar Vijay Singh said, “This land belongs to the government and is reserved for development projects. Illegal occupation is not only a violation of the law but also hinders the planned development of the city.” The administration has also hinted at strict action with police assistance if there is any resistance. It remains to be seen how the administrative action proceeds in the coming days and its impact on the local population.</p>

<p><strong>MP News:</strong> Twenty government schools in Bhopal are on the verge of closure due to declining student enrollment. These schools will be merged with Sandipani or CM Rise schools. The aim is to expand CM Rise schools by closing down smaller schools in the city.</p>



<p>Bhopal has 836 government schools with approximately one lakh students enrolled. While the enrollment process is ongoing, twenty schools have very low student numbers. Jahangira school in the old city, for instance, has around fifty students enrolled up to the twelfth grade. Primary schools in the city also show very low admissions. If the numbers don&#8217;t improve, these schools will be removed from the department&#8217;s records. Last year, four hundred schools across the state were closed, including six in Bhopal, following instructions from the School Education Department due to zero enrollment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eight CM Rise Schools Have Higher Enrollment</h2>



<p>The city has eight CM Rise schools. The schools facing potential merger are located near these schools. According to the School Education Department&#8217;s rules, students within a one-kilometre radius of a CM Rise school will be given first priority.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">These Schools Face the Biggest Challenges</h2>

Meanwhile, teachers have received instructions to increase student numbers by searching for unenrolled children in the surrounding areas and persuading parents to enrol them.</p>

<p>According to the Bihar State Election Commission, this year&#8217;s elections will incorporate an innovative e-voting system, enabling registered voters to cast their votes from home via a mobile app. The commission stated that 51,157 registered voters will cast their votes through e-voting. This includes senior citizens, physically disabled individuals, those suffering from incurable diseases, pregnant women, and migrant workers. This initiative will benefit voters who are unable to reach polling stations due to health or other reasons.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Opportunity to Vote from Home</h2>



<p>State Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad stated that the commission has always strived to provide every voter with a free, fair, transparent, and accessible voting process. E-voting is a significant step in this direction. He explained that e-voting is a voluntary facility, available only to those voters who have pre-registered for it.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mobile E-voting for the First Time in Municipal Elections</h2>



<p>Regarding this process, the highest number of registrations have come from the Buxar district amongst the municipalities in Patna, East Champaran, Rohtas, Gaya, Buxar, Banka, Saran, and Siwan. The commission believes that e-voting will enhance the transparency of the electoral process and help increase voter turnout. The State Election Commission held a video conference with District Election Officers before the elections to discuss the strategy and technical aspects in detail to ensure a smooth process for voters.</p>

<p>Under the e-voting process, registered voters will be able to log in to the mobile app, verify their identity through OTP and identification documents, and then cast their votes. The commission has described the system as completely secure and reliable.</p>

<p>This year, Amarnath Yatra registrations have seen a 10.19% decrease. Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, explained that those who had registered by 22 April were contacted to confirm their continued participation. Sinha added that the Pahalgam terrorist attack negatively impacted the overall atmosphere in the valley. Extensive security forces have been deployed for the pilgrimage. The Amarnath Yatra will commence on 3 July and conclude on 9 August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Three-Tier Security at Amarnath Yatra Base Camp</h2>



<p>Sinha mentioned that a three-tier security system will be in place at the Amarnath Yatra Base Camp. Security forces are currently conducting rehearsals and mock drills. Additional police personnel and security forces have been deployed. Verification of all service providers has also been completed. The Amarnath Yatra Helicopter Service has been cancelled this year due to various reasons. As only about 8% of pilgrims utilise this service, its cancellation will not significantly impact the Yatra.</p>

<p>In his 24-year international career, the Master Blaster played in six ODI World Cups. He was part of the 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011 ODI World Cups. In 2003, the Indian team narrowly missed winning the World Cup, losing to Australia in the final. In that World Cup, Sachin scored the highest number of runs (673) and won the Golden Bat award.</p>



<p>His dream of winning the World Cup was fulfilled in 2011. The Indian team defeated Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to win their second ODI World Cup. The &#8216;God of Cricket&#8217;, revered by millions of fans, bid farewell to international cricket on 16 November 2013.</p>

<p><strong>India vs England Test Series:</strong> The second match of the five-match Test series between India and England will be played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Starting on 2nd July, this Test match could prove extremely challenging for the Indian team, as Edgbaston has been nothing short of a jinx for India.</p>



<p>Team India&#8217;s record at this ground has been extremely disappointing. Until now, India has only once scored over 400 runs here, and only once crossed the 300-run mark. These figures clearly show that the Edgbaston pitch has been a major challenge for Indian batsmen. However, four Indian batsmen have also scored centuries at this very ground.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">416 Runs – India&#8217;s Best Score at Edgbaston, Yet a Crushing Defeat</h2>



<p>India&#8217;s highest ever score in an Edgbaston Test is 416 runs, achieved in 2022 against England. In that match, Rishabh Pant played a whirlwind innings of 146 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja played a composed innings of 104 runs.</p>



<p>Jasprit Bumrah captained the team in this Test. India took the lead in the first innings, but despite this, the team faced a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of England. This defeat was extremely disappointing for India, as despite a strong start, the team could not reach the finish line.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">390 Runs – The Second Highest Score</h2>



<p>India scored their second-best Test score at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in 1986. This match was the third Test of that year&#8217;s Test series, in which England, batting first, scored 390 runs. In response, the Indian team also put up a magnificent fight and scored 390 runs, levelling the score. In this innings, Mohinder Amarnath played a brilliant 79-run knock, while Mohammad Azharuddin played a classic 64-run innings. Kiran More (48) and Roger Binny (40) also made significant contributions.</p>



<p>After a strong contest between the two teams, this Test ended in a draw, but the performance of the Indian batsmen was considered courageous in the conditions of England at that time.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">297 Runs – Team India Lost by an Innings</h2>



<p>In 1979, the Indian cricket team toured England, where the first Test match of the series was played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. In this Test, England won the toss and batted first, putting up a massive score. The hosts scored 633/5 runs in their first innings.</p>



<p>In response, the Indian team could only manage 297 runs, which is India&#8217;s third-highest Test score at Edgbaston. In this innings, Gundappa Viswanath scored the highest 78 runs and tried to single-handedly hold the fort, but he didn&#8217;t receive much support from the other end. The Indian team lost this match by an innings and 83 runs, which is considered one of Team India&#8217;s most embarrassing defeats at Edgbaston.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">277 Runs – Fourth Highest Score at Edgbaston</h2>



<p>In 1967, the Indian cricket team was on a tour of England, and the third Test match of that series was played at Edgbaston. In this match, England batted first and scored 298 runs. In response, the Indian team was bowled out for just 92 runs in the first innings.</p>



<p>England then scored 203 runs in their second innings, setting India a massive target of 410 runs to win. The Indian batsmen put up a good fight and scored 277 runs, but India lost the match.</p>

<p>Dausa: Toll rates have been increased at the Sikandra Toll Plaza on the Jaipur-Agra National Highway. The increased rates, implemented by the toll company, will come into effect from July 1st. This includes a ₹10 per vehicle increase for buses, trucks, multi-axle vehicles, and heavy construction machinery. However, rates for cars, passenger vans, jeeps, light commercial vehicles, and local vehicles will remain unchanged.</p>



<p>The revised toll rates are as follows: Car, passenger van, or jeep – ₹80; Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) – ₹140; Bus, two-axle truck – ₹285; Multi-axle vehicle – ₹455. The toll for local personal vehicles will be ₹20.</p>



<p>For local commercial vehicles, the toll will be: Motor car/jeep – ₹40; Local Light Commercial Vehicle – ₹70; Bus/two-axle truck – ₹140; and Multi-axle vehicle – ₹225.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Discount for Local Vehicles</h2>



<p>As per NHAI regulations, vehicles belonging to residents near the toll plaza will receive a discount on toll fees. Light vehicles such as cars and jeeps will pay ₹20 at the Sikandra toll plaza. Commercial vehicles will receive a 50% discount.</p>

<p>The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has unearthed remnants of a civilisation dating back to 3500-1000 BCE in Bahj village, Dholpur district, Rajasthan. A 23-metre deep ancient river system (palaeochannel) has also been discovered at the same site. Archaeological researchers are connecting this to the Saraswati River mentioned in the Rigveda.</p>



<p>It is claimed that this ancient water system may have been the foundation of a civilisation that flourished along the banks of the Saraswati River. Located fifty kilometres from Mathura, this site is a crucial link in understanding the cultural heritage of the Saraswati basin. Five months of excavation have yielded, besides statues of Hindu deities, ancient ornaments belonging to this civilisation.</p>



<p>At a depth of about 4 metres, a female skeleton and a large number of ancient silver and copper coins have also been found. Following information about the village&#8217;s association with the grandson of Lord Krishna, Vajranatha&#8217;s Kheda, located on the Govindan road, the ASI commenced excavation on 10 January last year. Research on the discovered remains is underway.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Hoard of Mahabharata-Era Pottery Discovered</h2>



<p>Bone tools, semi-precious stone beads and conch bangles, 15 sacrificial pits (yagna kunds), and statues of Shiva and Parvati have been found. These are estimated to be more than 1000 BCE. Seals with Brahmi script, sacrificial pits from the Mahajanapada period filled with sand and soil, and copper coins in small pots have also been unearthed. A treasure trove of pottery from the Mahabharata period has been discovered. Walls have been found beneath the mound.</p>



<p>Jain inscriptions mention Bahj village as Vajnagar. The mounds here are also referred to as Kankali Tila. The name Bahj is believed to be a tadbhava (popularly evolved form) of Vaj Nagari. A significant portion of the village&#8217;s ancient mound is being encroached upon by the expanding settlement. It lies on the Brij Chaurasi Kos Parikrama route.</p>

<p>Gang war in Delhi: In Delhi&#8217;s Bawana area, the nephew of a notorious gangster was shot dead by bike-borne assailants while out for a morning walk with his family. Police suspect the involvement of the Nandu gang in this murder and are investigating the matter. The incident occurred on Friday morning when Deepak, the nephew of notorious gangster Manjeet Mahal was out for a morning walk with his parents and four-year-old daughter in Bawana, outer Delhi.</p>



<p>Delhi Police sources revealed that Manjeet Mahal&#8217;s sisters reside in Nangal Thakran, Bawana, outer Delhi. Manjeet Mahal&#8217;s brother-in-law, Devendra, is a government school teacher with no criminal record. On Friday morning, Devendra&#8217;s son Deepak, along with his four-year-old daughter and parents, was on a morning walk. Suddenly, bike-borne assailants opened fire on them. One bullet grazed the four-year-old daughter&#8217;s hand, while Deepak sustained at least six gunshot wounds, resulting in his death.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suspicion Falls on Nandu Gang</h2>



<p>According to the police, Deepak, the nephew of notorious gangster Manjeet Mahal, worked in share trading after completing his B.Tech. He had no criminal record and no direct links to any gang. On Friday morning, he was on a morning walk with his parents and daughter. As they reached Nangal-Bawana Road, two assailants on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on Deepak.</p>



<p>Police sources suggest that preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of the Nandu gang. Recently, tensions have escalated between the Nandu gang and the Manjeet Mahal gang. A few months ago, the Nandu gang allegedly orchestrated the murder of Rajkumar Daral, a property dealer close to Manjeet Mahal, in West Delhi East.</p>

<p>During the firing, a bullet grazed Deepak&#8217;s four-year-old daughter&#8217;s hand, while Deepak received approximately half a dozen bullets. His family rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The child&#8217;s condition is reported to be out of danger. Bawana police station personnel arrived at the scene and commenced their investigation. Deepak&#8217;s father, Devendra, a government school teacher, informed the police about the attack. The police are examining CCTV footage from the area and monitoring the activities of criminals associated with the Nandu gang.</p>



<p>Deepak&#8217;s father told the police that on Friday morning, he, his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter were out for a walk. Deepak was walking slightly ahead with his daughter on Nangal-Bawana Road. Suddenly, bike-borne assailants opened fire on him. Pushing his daughter away, Deepak lunged towards the attackers, but fell after being hit by several bullets. His daughter ran towards him and was hit in the hand. Deepak&#8217;s daughter repeatedly pleaded with the attackers to spare her father.</p>



<p>Deepak&#8217;s father stated, “We shouted for help and asked nearby people for assistance. Seeing the crowd, the attackers fled. With the help of others, we took Deepak and his daughter to the hospital, but we couldn&#8217;t save our son.” Deepak&#8217;s four-year-old daughter is reported to be out of danger and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The family is mourning the loss of their only son.</p>
