Instead of Prayagraj, the NTA has designated Varanasi as the new exam centre. This change is due to the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, to prevent travel disruptions for students. The NTA has already released the admit cards for the JEE Main 2025 exam scheduled for 28, 29, and 30 January. Candidates appearing for the exam can download their admit cards from the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.</p>



<p>The NTA issued a notice regarding this change, stating that several students had expressed concerns about potential difficulties in reaching the exam centres in Prayagraj on 28, 29, and 30 January 2025. Therefore, the Prayagraj centres have been relocated to Varanasi.</p>

<p><strong>Maharashtra News:</strong> Following the announcement of a ₹1 per litre reduction in Amul milk prices (for one-litre packs), Maharashtra residents face a blow to their wallets. State transport bus fares have increased by approximately 15 percent, while taxi and auto-rickshaw fares in Mumbai have risen by ₹3.</p>



<p>According to reports, the Maharashtra State Transport Authority (STA) approved a 14.95 percent increase in MSRTC bus fares, effective midnight. A press release from the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Department stated that the STA meeting finalised the fare hike decision.</p>



<p>The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) held a meeting on Friday, deciding to increase the per-kilometre fare for Mumbai&#8217;s black-and-yellow taxis and auto-rickshaws in the Mumbai suburbs by ₹3. This new fare will come into effect from February 1, 2025. Under this, the minimum auto fare will increase from ₹23 to ₹26 from February 1st, while the minimum taxi fare will rise from ₹28 to ₹31.</p>



<p>It should be noted that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), known as ST buses in the state, is one of the largest public transporters in the country. MSRTC has a fleet of 15,000 buses, carrying 5.5 million passengers daily.</p>

<p>Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri is focusing on improving healthcare facilities. An unknown illness in Budhal village, Kotrenka sub-division, has claimed the lives of 17 people. To address this situation, the government&#8217;s health department has provided GMC Rajouri with five paediatricians and five anaesthesiologists. Principal Dr A.S. Bhatia informed that the hospital is now equipped with advanced technology to handle emergencies.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Request to Health Secretary</h2>



<p>Dr Amarjeet Singh Bhatia, Principal of GMC Rajouri, stated that following a request to the Health Secretary, an order was passed within half an hour to deploy 5 anaesthesiologists and 5 paediatricians to GMC. They will strengthen our existing workforce.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">MLA&#8217;s Appeal to the Centre</h2>



<p>Advanced ambulances are ready at the hospital. Currently, six patients from Budhal village are undergoing treatment at GMC Rajouri and are recovering. The entire Budhal area has been declared a containment zone, and Budhal MLA Javed Iqbal has appealed to the central government to provide air ambulances for any emergency situation to airlift patients.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Report of Unknown Illness</h2>



<p>An unknown illness has been reported in Budhal village, with symptoms including fever, sweating, vomiting, dehydration, and unconsciousness. Despite initial tests, no bacterial or viral infection has been detected. The mysterious illnesses and diseases, still unknown to the administration, have put all departments on high alert, working round the clock to manage the situation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">MLA Describes Public Grief</h2>



<p>Budhal MLA Javed Iqbal said, “I have witnessed children dying in agony before my eyes. I appeal to the government to deploy air ambulances in Jammu or Rajouri to airlift critical patients for better treatment. If the disease spreads and a major outbreak occurs, arrangements should also be made at PGIMER Chandigarh and AIIMS Delhi. GMC Rajouri should also be strengthened and more staff should be sent here to handle any emergency situation. Yesterday, patients were airlifted from here to Jammu. But due to lack of help, they could not be sent to PGIMER Chandigarh and instead are being treated at SMGS Hospital and GMC Jammu.”</p>


<p>MLA Javed Iqbal appealed for better healthcare facilities at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. Maharashtra Ordnance Factory Blast Kills Five,


<p>At least Eight people have died following a massive explosion at an Ordnance Factory in Bhandara. A powerful blast occurred on Friday afternoon at the ordnance factory in Jawahar Nagar, Bhandara.</p>



<p>According to preliminary information, the explosion at the Ordnance Factory took place between 10:30 and 11:15 am. The intensity of the blast was so high that a section of the roof collapsed, trapping more than a dozen workers. Eight deaths have been reported so far, with fears that the death toll may rise. Rescue operations are underway.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Than 10 Workers Trapped</h2>



<p>Initial reports indicate that the powerful blast occurred in the RK Branch section of the Ordnance Factory located in Jawahar Nagar, near Bhandara city. The accident is believed to have been caused by an explosion in raw materials used in the manufacture of RDX. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.</p>



<p>Commenting on the explosion at the ordnance factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “In the explosion at the ordnance factory in Bhandara district, 13 to 14 workers are reported to be trapped under the collapsed roof. According to preliminary information received so far, unfortunately, one worker has died. Five workers have been rescued.”</p>

<p><strong>Bijapur News:</strong> A 50kg IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was recovered on Thursday on the Basaguda-Awaapalli road in Bijapur district. Naxalites had planted it under a bridge. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was out on demining duty on the road. The IED was detected under the bridge near the Timapur Durga Temple. An attempt was made to remove the IED safely, but due to its depth and safety concerns, it was detonated. The blast created a large crater in the road. However, the police quickly made arrangements for vehicles to pass through.</p>



<p>The alertness of the security forces thwarted a major plot by Maoists in Bijapur. A team conducting demining operations on the Basaguda-Awaapalli road discovered the bomb in time. The bomb disposal team defused the bomb on the spot, averting a major accident. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team was conducting a routine search operation. The Maoists had planted the bomb under the road to target the personnel.</p>

<p>It is reported that there is a Durga Temple near Timapur on the Basaguda-Awaapalli road. Maoists had planted the bomb under the bridge near the temple. As soon as the BDS team reached the bridge, their metal detectors indicated the presence of a bomb. The BDS team immediately defused the bomb on the spot. The sound of the explosion was heard several kilometres away.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bomb Planted Under the Bridge</h2>



<p>The Maoists had planted the bomb under the bridge, concealed among concrete and stones. The personnel initially tried to remove the bomb, but it was deeply embedded. Removing it could have been dangerous. Therefore, the BDS team deemed it safer to defuse the IED on the spot.</p>

Rishabh Pant&#39;s Struggle Continues in Ranji Trophy 2024-25


<p>Following a disappointing performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia, several Indian star players decided to participate in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. However, these players have also underperformed significantly. While captain Rohit Sharma failed to make a significant impact in the match between Mumbai and Jammu &amp; Kashmir, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant also struggled against Saurashtra.</p>



<p>Pant managed less than 20 runs in the two innings of this match. He was dismissed for just one run in the first innings and scored 17 runs off 26 balls in the second innings before returning to the pavilion. He hit one boundary in this inning. Ravindra Jadeja, who bowled exceptionally well in this match, dismissed Rishabh Pant.</p>



<p>Earlier, on the Australia tour, Pant scored 255 runs at a modest average of 28.33 in 10 innings across five matches. He scored 37 and 1 run in the Perth Test, 21 and 28 runs in the Adelaide Day-Night Test, and only 9 runs in the third Test at the Gabba. In the fourth match at the MCG, he was dismissed for 28 runs. However, he did score 40 and 61 runs in the first and second innings respectively in the final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).</p>



<p>After consistently underperforming in ODIs and T20s, Pant is now struggling in Test matches as well. Due to his poor form, the team management dropped captain Rohit Sharma from the final Test against Australia. Virat Kohli is also under scrutiny. If Pant doesn&#8217;t improve his batting, he too might be dropped from the playing XI in the future, potentially making way for Dhruv Jurel.</p>

<p>Pant failed to even reach a combined total of 20 runs across both innings of this match. He was dismissed for just one run in the first innings. In the second innings, he managed only 17 runs off 26 balls before returning to the pavilion. </p>

<p><strong>IMD Weather Update:</strong> While many parts of the country are experiencing relief from the cold, several states are anticipating rainfall, and dense fog is prevalent in others. A new western disturbance has become active in Rajasthan, causing noticeable changes in the weather. This western disturbance is resulting in warmer days and cooler nights. Drizzle is expected in some areas of Rajasthan in the coming days, potentially leading to a drop in temperature.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dense Fog Alert in UP</h2>



<p>According to the meteorological department, the weather in Uttar Pradesh took a turn on Thursday. Thursday morning saw a rise in cold temperatures accompanied by dense fog. For the previous two days, most parts of UP had experienced warmer weather due to sunshine.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dense Fog Alert in Rajasthan</h2>



<p>According to the meteorological department, light rain is possible in some areas of Bharatpur, Rajasthan on 24 January. Additionally, dense fog is expected in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli, prompting a yellow alert from the meteorological department. However, the weather is expected to be clear from 24 January to 29 January, and no alerts have been issued for any district.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperatures Recorded in Hilly Regions</h2>



<p>Light snowfall occurred on Thursday in Himachal Pradesh, including both ends of the Atal Tunnel and high peaks, while Shimla&#8217;s Ridge, Sanjauli, Kufri, and Narkanda received snowfall. Due to cloud cover and light snowfall, maximum temperatures dropped by two to six degrees. Kangra and Bilaspur recorded four degrees higher. Due to higher temperatures and reduced snowfall/rainfall in the state, the snow already accumulated on the glaciers has begun to melt.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperatures in the Plains</h2>



<p>Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are experiencing significantly colder temperatures. Punjab recorded a temperature of 6.1 degrees. Churu in Rajasthan recorded 7.4 degrees, while Hisar in Haryana recorded 7.8 degrees.</p>



<p>Temperatures above normal are being recorded in many parts of the country. However, dense fog and the possibility of rain remain in several areas. Due to the anticipated rainfall and snowfall, a cold wave is expected to affect various areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on 23 and 24 January.</p>


<p>Weather Forecast: The meteorological department has issued a fog alert for several areas. According to the IMD, light rain is likely at some places in Bharatpur, Rajasthan on 24 January. Due to snowfall, there is a possibility of a cold wave in Jammu and Kashmir on 24 January.</p>

<p>Candidates appearing for the exam are advised to follow the guidelines issued by the NTA. Specific instructions have been released for the exam; please adhere to them. Candidates must bring their JEE Mains 2025 admit card, two passport-size photographs, and one valid photo ID to the examination hall. Entry will be denied without these.</p>

Teacher falls for scam, loses Rs 1.5 lakh while trying to recover Rs 400


<p><strong>CG Fraud News:</strong> A teacher from Lorippur village, under Sankra police station in Mahasamund district, was defrauded of ₹1.5 lakh. Police have registered a case against the mobile phone holders involved.</p>



<p>The complainant, Jitendra Kumar Pradhan, is a teacher at the primary school in Chhatamauha village. He stated that on 11 January, he went to withdraw money from a Hitachi ATM in Sankra. When he inserted his ATM card to withdraw ₹10,000, only ₹9,600 was dispensed. He then went to the District Cooperative Bank in Sankra, where bank officials told him the remaining amount would be credited later. He then returned home.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Fraud Occurred</h2>



<p>When the money was not returned by 20 January 2025, the teacher searched for the Hitachi ATM&#8217;s customer care number on Google. After calling the number, he was given other customer care numbers and told to contact them. Upon contacting the number provided, the caller asked for his account number and claimed to be able to fix the ATM issue. The teacher provided his account number. Following this, the caller disconnected the call. The teacher then received a call on his mobile phone instructing him to download the AnyDesk app. He subsequently downloaded the app.</p>



<p>After opening the app, he was instructed to touch the screen reader. Once he did so, the caller stated that ₹400 would be credited to his account within four hours. The fraudster then instructed him to keep his mobile phone on. Subsequently, money was continuously deducted from his account. A total of ₹1,50,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from the teacher&#8217;s account online. Sankra police have registered a case against the holders of mobile numbers 6262919379 and 9234169144.</p>

<p>Two groups clashed in the Pawta area of Jodhpur city, Rajasthan. The incident occurred in Lohar Colony. Both groups started throwing stones at each other. Some injuries have been reported. Police have arrived at the scene.</p>



<p>According to sources, a dispute arose between the two groups on Thursday morning over property, escalating into a stone-pelting incident. Mahamandir police station arrived at the scene. Given the seriousness of the situation, RAC (Rajasthan Armed Constabulary) and additional police forces have been deployed. Police intervened, restoring order, and several youths have been detained for breach of peace. The injured have been taken to hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Assault and Attempted Strangulation of a Minor Girl</h2>



<p>Earlier, in the Jodhpur Police Commissionerate area, a dispute between neighbours led to a young man assaulting and molesting minor sisters. One girl became unwell after being strangled. She has been admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. The other party has also filed a counter-complaint of assault.</p>



<p>According to police, three minor sisters were sitting outside their house. Their mother was at a relative&#8217;s place due to a bereavement. A neighbour had a dispute with them, using abusive language towards the minors. When the girls protested, the neighbour assaulted them. The situation escalated with the neighbour&#8217;s mother and sister joining in the assault.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Minor Girl Falls Unconscious</h2>



<p>It is alleged that the young man attempted to strangle one minor girl, causing her to lose consciousness. She has been admitted to MGH (Mahatma Gandhi Hospital). He also assaulted another minor sister, injuring her near the eye. When a woman reprimanded the neighbour, the accused assaulted her as well. Subsequently, a case has been registered under charges of assault, molestation, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.</p>
