<p>A total of 265 posts will be filled through the Odisha Civil Services Examination 2024. The OPSC OCS Preliminary Examination will comprise two compulsory objective-type papers, each carrying 200 marks (Paper I and Paper II).</p>



<p>The Odisha Civil Services Examination consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview or Personality Test. Candidates will be selected only after clearing all three stages. Maha umbh Traffic Chaos: 5 Key Reasons


<p><strong>Maha Kumbh Traffic Jam:</strong> People are arriving in Prayagraj from all corners of the country to participate in the Mahakumbh. The resulting crowd pressure is so intense that Prayagraj is grappling with massive traffic jams. All routes leading to the Sangam are severely congested. Pedestrians are having to walk approximately 20-25 kilometres. Let&#8217;s examine the five major reasons behind the Mahakumbh mega-jam…</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Most Parking Lots Full</h2>



<p>In anticipation of the large crowds, the administration had initially created 102 parking lots along all seven major routes connecting Prayagraj. After the three Amrit Snans, the administration reduced the number of parking lots to 36. However, even after Vasant Panchami, the influx of devotees continued, resulting in most parking lots filling up. This has led to a continuous stream of vehicles on the roads, causing traffic jams.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lack of Coordination with Neighbouring Districts</h2>



<p>No concrete plan has been implemented to stop vehicles entering Prayagraj at the borders. Because of this, the number of vehicles entering Prayagraj is constantly increasing. According to media reports, the lack of coordination between the administration and police with neighbouring districts has exacerbated the problem.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Personnel Unfamiliar with Geography</h2>



<p>In addition to the local police and PAC, paramilitary forces have been deployed throughout the Mahakumbh Mela and Prayagraj district for traffic management and security. According to media reports, the outside police are not well-acquainted with the local geography. When asked for directions, devotees are consistently receiving the same response from the personnel: “Just keep moving slowly.” This is despite the Mela administration claiming that all security personnel received the necessary information during training.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lack of Advance Information Dissemination</h2>



<p>Stranded devotees are not receiving timely information about the traffic jams. There is a lack of signage along the highways to guide devotees. People are simply following each other, and when the crowd becomes too large, they are stopped using barricades. If the situation had been controlled earlier, the situation would not have become unmanageable.</p>

Not Just Delhi: These States Also Have No Congress MLAs


<p>The BJP has performed exceptionally well in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. There has been a change of power in Delhi. Out of Delhi&#8217;s 70 assembly seats, the BJP has won 48. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a loss of seats this time, winning only 22. The Congress party failed to win a single seat in Delhi this time, continuing a trend from the 2020 and 2015 Delhi Assembly elections.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Congress&#8217;s Zero Representation: Not Just Delhi</h2>



<p>In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress party failed to win a single seat. Furthermore, Congress does not hold a single MLA seat in several states across India, including large states like Andhra Pradesh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Andhra Pradesh: Congress&#8217;s Zero MLAs</h2>



<p>Andhra Pradesh has 175 assembly seats. Assembly elections were held there in May 2024. The Congress party contested the election strongly, but failed to win a single seat. Most of the party&#8217;s candidates finished third or had their deposits forfeited.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sikkim: 32 Seats, Congress-0</h2>



<p>Sikkim has 32 assembly seats, all currently held by the NDA. While Congress held power in Sikkim at one point, it currently holds zero seats.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Nagaland: 60 Seats, Congress-0</h2>



<p>Nagaland has 60 assembly seats. Assembly elections were held there in February 2023. Congress failed to win a single seat. The seat distribution is as follows: NDPP (25), BJP (12), NCP (7), NPP (5), LJP(R) (2), RPI (2), NPF (2), and Independents (5).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Congress&#8217;s Zero MLAs in Delhi</h2>



<p>Delhi has 70 assembly seats. The recent Delhi election results delivered a major blow to the Congress party, which failed to win a single seat. This continues a trend from the 2020 and 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. Although there was speculation that Congress might win seats this time, it failed to do so.</p>

<p><strong>Tamil Nadu Crime:</strong> A science teacher has been arrested in Yercaud, Salem, on charges of sexually assaulting ten female students at a government school. Ilayakannu (37) was arrested by Yercaud police on Friday night and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Ilayakannu, who taught science to students in classes 10 and 12, allegedly abused ten girls. The incident came to light when one of the victims mustered the courage to inform the school headmistress and demanded action against the teacher.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Teachers&#8217; Degrees to be Revoked: Minister</h2>



<p>Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi stated that the degrees of teachers accused of sexual assault will be revoked. Responding to a question from reporters about the alleged sexual assault of a female student by three teachers at a government secondary school in Krishnagiri district, the minister said, &#8220;From now on, we will not be limited to legal action alone. The certificates of teachers involved in sexual assault will also be revoked.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arrested Under POCSO Act</h2>



<p>The incident came to light when a victim informed the school headmistress and demanded action against the teacher. The headmistress immediately informed the education department and district child protection unit officials. A team then visited the school and questioned the students. Preliminary investigations revealed that the teacher had abused ten students. Based on a complaint filed by the District Child Protection Unit, Kondalampatti All Women Police Station registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested Ilayakannu.</p>

Indore tops cleanliness rankings again, some states object; top 10 cities to compete separately


<p>Cleanest City of India: Indore&#8217;s consistent top ranking for seven consecutive years in the cleanliness rankings is causing displeasure among several states. Instead of striving for parity, they are objecting to Indore&#8217;s award. Considering these objections, the central government is planning to introduce separate cleanliness rankings for cities consistently ranking within the top 10 or top 20. The rankings for the remaining cities will continue as before. The deadline for this is 31 March.</p>



<p>The deadline may be extended if necessary. This was stated by the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar. He was in Bhopal on Sunday to highlight the benefits of the Union Budget. The minister said that the new provisions for ranking will boost the morale of cities lagging behind despite making good efforts. The Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, was also present on this occasion.</p>

<li>A city&#8217;s population, area, education, and per capita income play a significant role in its sanitation system. Therefore, the scope of ranking can be differentiated between cities with similar population, area, education, and per capita income.</li>

<p><strong>Kumbh Special Train:</strong> Devotees planning a pilgrimage to the Kumbh Mela for a holy dip in the Ganges River will welcome some good news. South East Central Railway has announced two additional trips for the Visakhapatnam-Gorakhpur Kumbh Mela Special train, making the journey to Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela significantly easier.</p>



<p>This special train will stop at Bilaspur, Raigarh, Champa, Pendra Road, Anuppur, Shahdol, and Umaria stations. Train number 08588 will depart from Visakhapatnam on 10 and 22 February, while the return journey from Gorakhpur will be on 13 and 25 February.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Special Train to Arrive in Bilaspur at 4 AM</h2>



<p>For Kumbh Mela pilgrims, the Visakhapatnam-Gorakhpur Kumbh Mela special train will depart Visakhapatnam at 10.20 PM. The train will reach Raigarh at 1.55 PM, Champa at 3 PM, and Bilaspur at 4 AM the next day. It will then reach Pendra Road at 6 AM, Anuppur at 6.45 AM, Shahdol at 7.35 AM, and Umaria at 8.42 AM. After traversing these major stations in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the train will arrive in Gorakhpur at 7.30 AM on the third day.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sarnath Route Altered</h2>



<p>Due to the Kumbh Mela, the route of the Durg-Chhapra Sarnath Express (15160/15159) has been changed. This train, departing from Durg on 11 February and from Chhapra on 12 February, will now stop at Prayagraj Chhinvki station instead of Prayagraj station. Passengers should note that this train will now pass through Manikpur, Prayagraj Chhinvki, Jyonathpur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, and Aurihar. This change has been temporarily implemented considering passenger convenience and crowd management for the Kumbh Mela.</p>

<p><strong>UP Police Constable Recruitment:</strong> The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has commenced the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for constable recruitment today. All preparations have been completed. A significant update regarding this exam is that candidates will not be permitted to use their wristwatches during the test. However, the board has arranged large digital clocks on the ground to facilitate timekeeping for candidates. Only those candidates who have successfully completed the Document Verification (DV) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be eligible to participate in this test. Regarding the qualifying criteria for passing the physical test, male candidates must complete a 4.8 km run in 25 minutes, while female candidates must complete a 2.4 km run in 14 minutes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UP Police Constable Recruitment: Training for Successful Candidates</h2>



<p>As part of the recruitment process, 60,244 selected candidates will undergo nine months of training together. During a meeting, DGP Prashant Kumar instructed that the safety of female recruits be ensured and that they be provided with information on modern methods related to cybercrime. He stated that character verification of the candidates selected in the final stage will be conducted in their home districts. Following verification, one month of initial training (JTC) will be conducted in all 75 districts, followed by nine months of fundamental training at other centres. This process is considered the largest direct recruitment undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh Police to date.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UP Police Recruitment: Admit Card Issuance Process</h2>



<p>Currently, PET Admit Cards have only been issued to candidates who completed their document verification and PST by 24 January 2025. Admit cards for candidates whose verification process is still underway will be available for download in a second phase from 10 February 2025. Additionally, admit cards will also be issued to those whose document verification is completed and who are found eligible.</p>

<p><strong>Gold Price Hits Record:</strong> India, and indeed the world, has many enthusiasts for buying and wearing gold. Gold reached a new record high today, Monday. In India, gold prices hit an all-time high on Monday. The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold reached ₹87,210, while the price of 1 gram reached ₹8,721. The continuous increase in gold prices reflects the growing interest of investors in the yellow metal amidst fluctuations in the global market.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Rate: Price Increase in 10 Days</h2>



<p>Since the beginning of February, gold prices have been steadily rising. On February 1st, the price of 22-carat gold was ₹7,760 per gram, while 24-carat gold was ₹8,464 per gram. By February 10th, these rates had risen to ₹7,995 and ₹8,721 respectively. This calculates to a +3.03% increase in 22-carat gold and a +3.04% increase in 24-carat gold over 10 days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gold Price: Why are Gold Prices Rising?</h2>



<p>Several factors contribute to the rising price of gold. Global economic uncertainty driven by trade tensions and inflationary concerns has prompted investors to seek safe-haven assets. Furthermore, the weakening Indian Rupee has further increased domestic gold prices, making the yellow metal more expensive to import. With inflation and stock market volatility, investing in gold is becoming a safer option.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">These Countries Bought the Most Gold</h2>



<p>According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other sources, Kazakhstan emerged as the largest seller in December 2024, selling 11 tonnes of gold. China, however, topped the list of gold-buying countries, purchasing 10 tonnes. Looking at the data for the year 2024, Poland emerged as the largest net buyer of gold, adding 90 tonnes to its reserves. Turkey (75 tonnes) and India (73 tonnes) followed in second and third place respectively.</p>

<p><strong>SBI Clerk Admit Card:</strong> The State Bank of India (SBI) had earlier announced recruitment for the post of Junior Associate. The Junior Associate Preliminary Examination for this recruitment will be held on 22, 27, 28 February and 1 March 2025. <p><strong>Jaipur.</strong> Transport and Road Safety Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairava stated in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday that the state government is taking concrete and effective steps to resolve the traffic congestion problem in Jaipur city caused by the operation of illegal vehicles. He said that for the streamlined operation of e-rickshaws, the city has been divided into 6 zones, creating clusters based on police station areas, and a notification was issued on October 15, 2024, determining the number of e-rickshaws in each zone.</p>



<p>The Transport and Road Safety Minister was responding to supplementary questions asked by a member during the question hour. He said that parking and charging locations have also been identified in the 6 zones operating e-rickshaws and a letter was written to the Department of Information Technology and Communication on January 28 to issue zone-wise QR codes to e-rickshaws.</p>



<p>He said that currently, a total of 45,508 e-rickshaws are registered in the Regional Transport Offices Jaipur I and II. He assured the House that action is being ensured with the coordination of all concerned departments to tackle the traffic congestion situation in the city.</p>



<p>Earlier, in a written reply to the original question of MLA Balmukundacharya, the Transport and Road Safety Minister informed that the traffic pressure increases during special events and peak hours in Jaipur city, and additional deployment by the traffic police is done at traffic-congested locations to manage traffic. Action is being taken against vehicle drivers violating traffic rules in Jaipur city under the M.V. Act as per the rules.</p>



<p>He informed that in 2024, 7,183 challans were issued by the Transport Department and 255,129 challans by the Traffic Police against illegal vehicles for violating the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the related rules.</p>
