<p>Following irregularities, including a large-scale paper leak, in last year&#8217;s NEET UG examination, the NTA has announced this platform as a precautionary measure. NTA Director General, Pradeep Singh Kharola, stated that candidates can report suspicious activity under three categories.</p>

<p>The reporting process is straightforward. Candidates can detail what they observed, when it occurred, and upload supporting files as proof. This publicly launched portal aims to prevent malpractice in the examination. The NEET UG exam is scheduled for 4th May 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">NTA releases City Intimation Slip</h2>



<p>The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the <strong>city intimation slip</strong> for the NEET UG 2025 examination. Candidates can download their city intimation slip from the official website, nta.ac.in. Admit cards have not yet been released. Approximately 2.3 million students registered for the exam this year, a decrease compared to 2024&#8217;s 2.406 million registrations. The application process began on 7th February and concluded on 7th March 2025.</p>

Vancouver Festival Horror: Speeding Car Ploughs Into Crowd, Kills Several


<p>A high-speed SUV crashed into a crowd at the Vancouver Filipino Festival in Vancouver, Canada, killing several people and injuring over a dozen more. The incident occurred around 8 pm on Saturday at East 41st Avenue and Fraser Street, where the Lapu Lapu Festival was being held. The suspect driver has been apprehended. Authorities have confirmed fatalities resulting from this incident. Police stated on Twitter that an investigation is underway and further information will be shared soon.</p>

<p>Local police reported that the driver has been taken into custody, and further details regarding the incident will be released shortly. Police have not yet clarified whether this was an accident or a deliberate attack. According to local media, a black SUV sped into the crowd, running over numerous people. Some witnesses described the driver as a young Asian male who appeared to be mentally impaired.</p>

<p>Several videos of the incident have surfaced on social media, showing injured and deceased individuals. Emergency services arrived at the scene and attempted to rescue survivors. FIITJEE Fraud: ₹250 Crore Scam, 14,411 Students Affected, ED Probes


<p><strong>FIITJEE Fraud Case:</strong> The Enforcement Directorate (ED) Lucknow unit recently conducted searches at seven locations in Noida, Delhi, and Gurugram in connection with the FIITJEE fraud case. During these searches, the ED seized ₹10 lakh in cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹4.89 crore. This action was taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reason for the Raids</h2>



<p>An ED statement revealed that the search operation targeted the residences of FIIT-JEE Director D.K. Goel, CEO, COO, and CFO, as well as the institute&#8217;s official offices. This investigation is based on several First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in Noida, Lucknow, Delhi, Bhopal, and other cities. These FIRs allege that FIITJEE&#8217;s senior management promised students and their parents quality educational services but failed to deliver, despite collecting fees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cash, Jewellery, Documents, and Digital Devices Seized</h2>



<p>The investigation also found that FIITJEE collected approximately ₹206 crore from ongoing batches but failed to provide the promised facilities and services to students. The searches also yielded incriminating documents and digital devices suggesting financial irregularities. The investigation revealed that the institute misused the collected funds for personal and unauthorised purposes, and even failed to pay teachers&#8217; salaries.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">32 Coaching Centres Suddenly Shut Down</h2>



<p>Consequently, 32 FIITJEE coaching centres across various cities including Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Meerut, Noida, Prayagraj, Delhi, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Mumbai were abruptly shut down. This move affected approximately 14,400 students and their parents. The ED stated that preliminary investigations indicate that this fraud was perpetrated to swindle students and their parents under the guise of educational services.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Major Action Against Infiltrators, Over 500 Detained</h2>



<p>Gujarat Police, in a large-scale operation against infiltrators, has detained over 557 people in Ahmedabad and Surat. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch apprehended 457 infiltrators in the Chandola area, while Surat police detained over 100 Bangladeshi citizens in various areas. Interrogation is underway, and they will be deported after the investigation is complete. Joint Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Sharad Singhal, said that this operation was carried out on the instructions of the Minister of State for Home, DGP, and Police Commissioner. 70 out of 127 Bangladeshi citizens apprehended in earlier investigations have already been deported.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UN Security Council Condemns Attack, Emphasises Accountability</h2>



<p>The United Nations Security Council strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Beasaran Valley of Pahalgam. Council members called for holding accountable the organisers, perpetrators, and financiers who promote terrorist activities. In this attack, which occurred on April 22nd, 26 people were shot dead.</p>



<p>In a press statement issued on Friday, the 15-member Security Council reiterated that terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, constitutes a threat to international peace and security. Member states expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of India, and the Government of Nepal. They wished for a speedy recovery for the injured.</p>

<p><strong>Weather Update:</strong> A severe heatwave is sweeping across most of India, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in several states. However, relief is on the way. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a significant weather change is expected across the country. The IMD predicts a new spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and strong/gusty winds across eastern parts of India from 26 to 29 April, 2025. Twenty-four states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are expected to experience rain with strong winds and lightning.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Alert Issued for 24 States</h2>



<p>According to the meteorological department, the weather changed in many states from Saturday. Cloud cover brought some relief from the heat. A warning has been issued for 24 states, including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, for thunderstorms and strong winds accompanied by lightning. Heavy rainfall is also expected in the northeastern states. Hailstorms are possible in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka. The change in weather will lead to a decrease in temperature in most states. However, despite the rain and storm warnings, heatwaves will continue to affect parts of these states.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Possibility of Rain with Strong Winds</h2>



<p>According to the meteorological department, from 26 to 29 April, there is a likelihood of scattered to widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (40-50 km/h, gusting up to 60 km/h) in eastern India and adjoining parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hailstorm Alert for These States</h2>



<p>According to the IMD, there is a possibility of hailstorms in Chhattisgarh from 26-28 April, in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on the 26th, in Bihar and Jharkhand on the 27th, and in some parts of Odisha on 27 and 28 April.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Possibility of Heavy Rainfall with Strong Winds</h2>



<p>According to the meteorological department, there is a likelihood of thunderstorms (winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h) in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and Jharkhand on 27 April. Thunderstorms are also expected in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on 27 and 28 April, and in Bihar and Chhattisgarh from 26-28 April. Heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Sikkim on 26 and 27 April.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Damage</h2>



<p>The meteorological department has warned of potential damage. Strong winds/hailstones could damage orchards, horticulture, and standing crops. Hailstorms in open areas could injure people and livestock. Strong winds could cause partial damage to weak structures. Minor damage to mud houses/walls and huts is possible. Loose and light objects may also be blown away.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">IMD Suggestions</h2>



<p>The IMD advises staying indoors for the next few days, keeping windows and doors closed, and avoiding travel. Seek shelter in a safe place during bad weather; do not take shelter under trees. Avoid lying on concrete floors or sitting against concrete walls. Unplug electrical/electronic equipment. Immediately evacuate water bodies. Stay away from all objects that conduct electricity.</p>


<p>Weather Report: According to the meteorological department, between 26 and 29 April, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h, accompanied by rain in eastern India and adjoining parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.</p>

<p><strong>UP Board Mark Sheet:</strong> The UP Board has released the results for classes 10th and 12th. Regarding mark sheets, high school and intermediate students can expect to receive them by the second week of May. The printing of mark sheets and certificates will take 10 days. Several changes have been made to the paper and size of the mark sheets this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Check Results on DigiLocker</h2>



<p>After the certificates are printed, they will be sent to regional offices and then to the districts. This will take at least two to three weeks. However, mark sheets and certificates were uploaded to DigiLocker on Friday. Students can download them.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This Year&#8217;s Mark Sheet Will Include These Changes</h2>



<p>This year, the UP Board has made several changes to the mark sheet and certificate. Security features have also been enhanced. The paper quality will be such that it will not tear or fade. The mark sheet will include a special monogram that will appear red in sunlight and change colour in shade. The size of the mark sheet has been increased to A4. Interestingly, photocopying the mark sheet will always result in the copy displaying the word &#8220;photocopy&#8221;. The roll number will be written in both numerals and words to prevent tampering. The mark sheet will feature a fluorescent logo and numbering visible only under ultraviolet light. The names of the student and their parents will be written in both Hindi and English.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Were the Results This Year?</h2>



<p>The UP Board released the results for classes 10th and 12th on April 25th. In the 12th-grade exam, Prayagraj&#8217;s Mahak Jaiswal topped with 97.20%. In the 10th grade, Yash Pratap Singh of Jalaun secured first place. This year, a total of 81.15% of students passed the 12th grade, while 22,94,122 students passed the 10th grade.</p>

UGC Announces New Regulations for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses


<p><strong>UGC New Guidelines For UG And PG Courses:</strong> The University Grants Commission (UGC) has shared new regulations for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses commencing from 2025. The most significant change is the introduction of a multiple entry and exit system. These changes aim to make education more flexible and student-friendly under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Multiple Entry and Exit System?</h2>



<p>The multiple entry and exit system allows students to leave the course after one, two, three, or four years. Regardless of whether a student leaves after one year or three or four years, they will receive a certificate, diploma, or degree. However, students must complete the required credits. Students can also resume their studies later from where they left off.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Credit Allocation</h2>



<ul>
<li>After completing one year of the course, students will receive 40 credits, equivalent to a certificate course.</li>



<li>After two years, 80 credits will be awarded, equivalent to a diploma.</li>



<li>After three years, 120 credits will be awarded, representing a general degree.</li>



<li>After four years, 160 credits will be awarded, granting students an honours degree along with a research degree.</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">UGC Regulations on the Credit System</h2>



<p>The UGC has established clear rules regarding the credit system. Credits will be awarded for each subject studied. These credits will be stored in a digital system called the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC). Students can accumulate, transfer, or utilise their credits across universities and institutions in India.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Promoting Skill-Based Education</h2>



<p>UG and PG students can pursue two UG and PG programmes concurrently. They can also study from different universities or in different formats (offline, online, or distance learning). The UGC has also combined skill-based education with regular studies. Students must earn at least 50% of their credits in their main subject, while the remaining credits can be earned through vocational courses, internships, or multidisciplinary subjects.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Twice-Yearly Admissions</h2>



<p>The new UGC regulations permit admissions twice a year, in July/August and January/February, providing students with more opportunities to commence their education. The UGC has directed all universities to comply with these new rules. The UGC believes this will help make education more flexible and practical. If universities fail to comply, the UGC may take action, including prohibiting them from awarding certain degrees.</p>
