
<p>RPSC RECRUITMENT 2025: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has made it mandatory to update Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar numbers in the One Time Registration (OTR) system for applying to recruitment examinations. Applications for upcoming recruitment examinations will not be accepted without e-KYC. Secretary Ramniwas Mehta explained that the Department of Personnel&#8217;s notification issued on 27 November last year permitted biometric verification. Completing the KYC process is mandatory to apply for any recruitment through the state recruitment portal. The commission has provided an opportunity to complete OTR e-KYC through Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar from 7 July. Candidates who do not complete KYC will not be able to apply for online recruitment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Current Status</h2>



<p>A total of 69,58,433 candidates are registered in the One Time Registration. Of these, 37,53,302 have been verified using Aadhaar numbers, and 21,70,830 using Jan Aadhaar. The remaining 10,34,301 candidates have registered using their SSO ID.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Multiple Profiles Created</h2>



<p>During the verification of OTR profiles, it was found that candidates had created more than one profile using different SSO IDs. To prevent duplication and verify candidate identity, candidates must verify their OTR profiles created through SSO ID using e-KYC via Aadhaar or Jan Aadhaar.</p>

<p><strong>Russia Ukraine War:</strong> US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin for about an hour on Thursday via telephone. Trump urged an immediate end to the war in Ukraine. In response, Putin stated that Russia is prepared for negotiations with Ukraine but will not abandon its objectives. Following the conversation, Trump and his administration did not provide details, but Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Kremlin in Moscow, told reporters that Putin said Russia would achieve its stated goals, namely addressing the root causes that led to the current situation.</p>



<p>In Russian terminology, the root cause of the Ukraine war is Ukraine&#8217;s aspiration to join NATO. Ushakov added that Russia is ready to continue dialogue with the US, but negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv are necessary for peace talks. Both leaders also discussed the future of Iran&#8217;s nuclear programme and the situation in Syria. Trump&#8217;s conversation with Putin comes just two days after the US unexpectedly halted the supply of artillery shells and air defence systems to Ukraine, and Russia intensified its attacks.</p>

Gudkov is the highest-ranking military officer killed in the ongoing war with Ukraine, which began in February 2022.</p>

Amarnath Yatra 2025: First batch leaves from Nunwan, reaches Panchtarni


<p>The first batch of the Amarnath Yatra commenced its journey from the Nunwan base camp at dawn on Thursday, amidst the divine resonance of &#8216;Har Har Mahadev!&#8217; At 3:00 AM, the pilgrims were bustling with preparations in their tents. At 3:50 AM, with the blowing of conches, a wave of devotion filled the atmosphere. Along with cheers, a convoy of 1600 reserved vehicles, arranged by the administration, set off towards Chandanwari. The trek on foot began from Chandanwari at 6:00 AM.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Steep Ascent</h2>



<p>After RFID checks and security screenings, the real test began: the steep climb up the hills. However, the enthusiasm was remarkable; some on horseback, some in palanquins, and some even barefoot—every voice chanted &#8216;Bolo Bam Bam Bhole!&#8217; The first height was reached at Pissu Top. By 9:00 AM, we reached Jojipal, where rest, community meals (<em>bhandara</em>), and devotional songs replenished our energy. Ahead lay the ascent to Sheshnag, a challenging and arduous climb.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Oxygen Depletion Felt</h2>



<p>After security checks of all pilgrims and their bags, and having eaten, we proceeded towards the next stop. At 2:00 PM, when the group reached 14,500 feet, oxygen depletion forced several to seek medical attention at the medical camp. At Poshapati, the ITBP provided relief, offering check-ups and food. Finally, around 6:30 PM, the group reached Panchtarni. The final leg of the journey towards the holy darshan of Baba Barfani will commence on Friday morning.</p>

<p><strong>Bihar Rain Alert:</strong> The meteorological department has issued a rain alert for several parts of Bihar today. The department predicts heavy rainfall in Bihar until 6 July and has issued an alert accordingly. The forecast indicates that several districts may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain. This could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas of cities and cause difficulties for farmers. The meteorological department has advised the public to remain vigilant about the weather.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reason for the Changing Weather</h2>



<p>The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) states that a cyclonic system has become active in south Jharkhand and adjoining areas. It is located at an altitude of approximately 5.8 kilometres above sea level. This system is tilting southward with increasing altitude. The monsoon trough line now extends from Bikaner, Banasthali, Shivpuri, Singrauli, Chaibasa, and Digha southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal. This is the reason for the anticipated heavy rainfall in several districts of Bihar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Today&#8217;s Weather</h2>



<p>Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected in most districts of Bihar today. According to the meteorological department, strong winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h are likely in several districts on 4 July. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kaimur, Rohtas, and Aurangabad districts. The meteorological department has advised residents of these districts to stay away from open areas and waterlogged places.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Humid Heat in Patna</h2>



<p>According to the Patna Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature will range between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be between 26 and 27 degrees Celsius for the next five days. Patna will experience partly cloudy skies with light rain in the afternoon, potentially increasing humidity.</p>

<p>An update from the meteorological department reveals that rainfall was recorded in Banka, Jamui, Muzaffarpur, Munger, Khagaria, Madhepura, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, West Champaran, East Champaran, Samastipur, and other areas in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 41.2 mm was recorded in Katoria, Banka. This was followed by 28.2 mm in Lakshmipur, Jamui; 24.2 mm in Sangrampur, Munger; 23.4 mm in Beldaur, Khagaria; 22.8 mm in Khaira, Jamui; 22.8 mm in Puraini, Madhepura; 20.4 mm in Barhat, Jamui; 20 mm in Bagaha, West Champaran; 19.2 mm in Jamui; and 18.4 mm in Chanan, Lakhisarai.</p>

Mixed Land Use: Shops Allowed with Houses


<p>UP Cabinet Decision: A major relief for citizens in urban areas of Uttar Pradesh is expected from a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled for Thursday. The meeting is likely to approve a crucial proposal from the Housing Department that will allow for the construction of shops and other commercial facilities on the same plot as residential buildings in Uttar Pradesh.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Major Step Towards Mixed Land Use</h2>



<p>Currently, mixed land use —allowing both residential and commercial construction on a single plot—is not permitted in Uttar Pradesh. This has caused difficulties for people, forcing small businesses and entrepreneurs to acquire separate plots or relocate to commercial areas. This situation is set to change with significant amendments to building development bylaws.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Proposal Inspired by Gujarat Model</h2>



<p>Sources indicate that the Uttar Pradesh government has based these amendments on the Gujarat model. Gujarat already allows mixed land use, significantly boosting urban lifestyles and economic activities. If approved, the UP government will permit the construction of shops, small complexes, washrooms, etc., alongside residential buildings.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Basement Use for Commercial Activities</h2>



<p>The proposed amendments will allow the use of building basements for commercial purposes. Currently, basements are restricted to parking or storage; the new rules will permit shops, warehouses, or other commercial uses, benefiting small entrepreneurs.</p>

<p>The proposed bylaws aim to double the Floor Area Ratio (FAR). Currently, the FAR is limited to 2.5 in most areas, but the proposal suggests increasing it up to 5. This will encourage multi-storey construction on smaller plots, optimising space utilisation. The final FAR will be determined after cabinet discussions and ministerial suggestions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Permission for Shop Construction on Smaller Plots</h2>



<p>The proposed amendments will allow shop construction on plots of 90 square metres or more, providing commercial opportunities for owners of smaller plots.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Relaxation in Road Width Regulations</h2>



<p>The government will allow commercial use on roads 9-10 metres wide. Previously, this was only permitted on roads 12 metres or wider. This relaxation aims to benefit more people.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Modern and Efficient Parking Arrangements</h2>



<p>The proposed bylaws suggest several parking amendments. More organised and suitable parking will be ensured for commercial buildings, schools, colleges, nursing homes, etc., easing traffic congestion and providing convenient parking options.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Boost to Urban Development</h2>



<p>This move is expected to revitalise urban development in Uttar Pradesh. Mixed land use will complement residential and commercial areas, improving city landscapes and economies. Small businesses, startups, home-based businesses, and service sectors will particularly benefit.</p>

Patna Metro Fares Higher Than Delhi: Parking and Restaurants in Plan


<p><strong>Patna Metro Update</strong>: The fare for Patna&#8217;s metro will be higher than that of Delhi&#8217;s. The minimum fare in Delhi is ₹10, while in Patna, it will be ₹15. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation has announced that the metro will commence operations on 15 August. Metro stations will offer parking facilities and shops selling food and beverages. Patna residents can use the metro from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Initial Metro Route</h2>



<p>Initially, the metro will run from Malahi Pakri in Kankarbagh to the Patliputra Bus Terminal, costing passengers ₹30. The fare structure sets a minimum fare of ₹15 for 0-3 km and ₹30 for 3-6 km. Since the distance between Malahi Pakri in Kankarbagh and the Patliputra Bus Terminal is more than 3 km, passengers will have to pay ₹30.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Malahi Pakri Metro Station Completion</h2>



<p>The Malahi Pakri Metro Station is complete. Installation of lifts and escalators is underway. The station will have entry and exit points on both sides, allowing access from Hanuman Nagar and the Patliputra Stadium. Given the anticipated crowds, four lifts and escalators are being installed at Malahi Pakri. Stairs are also provided for those unable to use lifts or escalators. The Patna Metro&#8217;s Public Relations Officer stated that all work will be completed by 15 July.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Malahi Pakri Metro Station: Underground and Two-Storey</h2>



<p>The Malahi Pakri Metro Station will be underground and two-storeyed. Of the four metro stations opening on 15 August, Malahi Pakri is the only one that will be both underground and two-storeyed. The first phase includes four metro stations: Malahi Pakri, Bhutanath, Zero Mile, and Patliputra Bus Terminal. All stations will have parking facilities and shops selling tea, snacks, and other necessities. Finishing work is ongoing.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Metro Operating Hours: 5 AM to 11 PM</h2>



<p>The Patna metro will operate from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The metro will provide Patna residents with a faster and safer commute, ensuring timely arrival at destinations and relief from traffic congestion. It will also offer a luxurious travel experience.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Patna Metro: 35 km Network</h2>



<p>The Patna metro will cover a total of 34.39 km, with two corridors: an East-West corridor (16.94 km) and a North-South corridor (14.45 km). Construction is divided into two phases. The first phase involves 26 metro stations – 13 elevated and 13 underground. Currently, the track from Malahi Pakri to the Patliputra Bus Terminal is complete. Approximately 6 km of the corridor will be operational from 15 August.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dipika Kakar&#8217;s Treatment to Last Two Years (Dipika kakar Liver Cancer)</h2>



<p>Shoaib further explained, “There are currently no cancer cells in Dipika&#8217;s body. However, the biopsy report revealed that her cancer was far more dangerous than initially indicated in the reports. There&#8217;s a chance of recurrence. After the surgery, the doctor has prescribed medication. Although there are no cancer cells now, if any are detected in the future, the dosage will be increased, and she will receive medication intravenously. Her treatment will begin next week and will last for about two years. Scans will be conducted every three weeks.”</p>

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a heated exchange with England captain Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes, resulting in a warning from the umpire to Jadeja.</p>



<p>The incident began when Jadeja attempted a single after playing a Chris Woakes delivery to the off side. However, captain Shubman Gill refused the run, deeming it improbable. Following this, before the next ball, on-field umpire Sharfuddoula called Jadeja and cautioned him about running close to the danger area (the central part of the pitch). The umpire explained that such running could damage the pitch, violating the rules of the game.</p>

<p>Despite the umpire&#8217;s warning, Jadeja, a short while later, again stepped near the danger area while running a run. This time, England captain Ben Stokes and bowler Chris Woakes reacted angrily. Woakes glared at Jadeja, believing he had deliberately disregarded the rules. In response, Jadeja gestured to indicate he hadn&#8217;t stepped into the danger area and had run on one side of the pitch.</p>

<p>In cricket, the danger area is the part of the pitch where batsmen or runners are prohibited from stepping while running. This is because repeated running in that area can damage the pitch surface, affecting bowlers, especially spinners. If a batsman violates this rule, the umpire first issues a warning. For repeated violations, a penalty of 5 runs can be imposed on the batting team.</p>

In Ghana, PM Modi emphasized that this is not a time for war, and problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. Both nations are in agreement on reforms within the United Nations and have expressed concern over ongoing conflicts in Western Asia and Europe.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">India Focuses on Increasing Trade</h2>



<p>PM Modi stated that trade between India and Ghana has exceeded ₹250 billion. The target is to double this figure in the next five years. He invited Ghanaian President John Mahama to visit India. Modi also mentioned that India will cooperate with Ghana in fintech and share its experience in digital transactions through UPI.</p>



<p>India will double ITEC and ICCR scholarships for Ghanaian youth, assist in the Feed Ghana programme, provide training to the Ghanaian army, and collaborate on maritime security, defence supplies, and cybersecurity. India will also provide affordable healthcare services and establish skill development centres for vocational education for Ghanaian youth.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PM Modi Has Received Highest Honours from Over 20 Countries</h2>



<p>Prior to this, PM Modi received the highest honour from the Cypriot government. President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides awarded PM Modi the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus&#8217; highest knighthood, named after the first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III.</p>



<p>PM Modi has received honours from over 20 countries. Mauritian PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam awarded him the ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean’. The Sri Lankan government bestowed upon him the ‘Sri Lanka Mithra Vibhushan Award’. Kuwait awarded him the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabir, its highest civilian honour.</p>



<p>Guyana and Barbados conferred their highest civilian honour, the Order of Excellence. The government of Dominica has also bestowed its highest honour upon PM Modi. The then-government of Afghanistan awarded him the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan. PM Modi has also received the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine from the Palestinian government and the UN Champion of the Earth Award from the United Nations.</p>

Teacher App Attendance Failure in Madhya Pradesh: Will Salaries Be Cut?


<p><strong>MP News:</strong> From 1 July, it has become mandatory for teachers in Indore district to mark their e-attendance on the Shikshak app. However, the app has not been functioning correctly for two days since the order was issued. Teachers tried to mark their attendance using the app and their passwords from 10:30 am onwards. Most teachers were able to register their presence around 11:00 am. However, many teachers could not mark their attendance through the app. In the evening, the app was inaccessible at 5:00 pm, causing further distress among teachers.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Salary Deductions</h2>



<p>There are 6557 teachers in Indore district. This app will be linked to the MIS portal in the coming days. If the app continues to malfunction, the salaries of many teachers will be deducted. This has caused considerable anxiety among teachers, and the teachers&#8217; union is demanding the installation of thumb impression machines instead of the app. The district education office did not have access to the e-attendance data on the app even by 2 July, preventing officials from providing information on how many teachers marked their attendance through the app in the first two days.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Half-Day Instructions</h2>



<p>The timings for government schools have been set from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. Attendance on the app is valid between 8:00 am and 10:30 am. Attendance registered after this time will be considered a half-day. The out-time is being recorded between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Teachers in rural areas are facing more difficulties with the app-based attendance system than those in urban areas. Many villages in the Manpur and Sanwer development blocks experience network issues.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Situation in Schools</h2>

<p>On the first day, many teachers could not register their attendance. Some downloaded the app but faced password-related issues. <p>Teachers who marked their entry in the morning could not mark their exit in the evening due to the web page being inaccessible. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Initial Problems</h2>



<p>&#8211; Even after the app opened in the morning, attendance could not be marked.</p>

<p>Regarding the e-attendance system, the teachers&#8217; union stated that they are not opposing the system, but resolving the ground-level issues before implementation is necessary. Harish Boyat, the union&#8217;s patron, and Praveen Yadav, the district president, stated that thumb impression machines could also be installed in schools. They will also submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.</p>

<p><strong>MP News:</strong> The Pul Bogda bridge in Bhopal has emerged as a major challenge for the metro train project. Over 200 historic houses and shops, including a sawmill, will be demolished in the area. The Pul Bogda bridge is to be the interchange junction for the Blue and Orange lines. Preliminary work has begun, and the area has been closed off; however, work cannot fully commence until the land is cleared. Experts estimate that if work begins now, the three-tier junction will take two years to complete.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">230 Structures to be Removed; Action Limited to Notices</h2>



<p>The project involves clearing the land at Pul Bogda by removing 230 structures for the Blue and Orange lines. This includes work on the interchange junction and related lines. The Blue line track will be built on the existing railway line. The Orange line will run over the Blue line track. A total of three railway lines will intersect here.</p>

<p><strong>Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train:</strong> The Indian Railways has launched the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train to offer pilgrims and tourists an experience of India&#8217;s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. On 25 July, this special train will depart from Safdarjung Railway Station, Delhi, for the Shri Ramayana Yatra. The railway initiative is in line with the Indian government&#8217;s &#8220;Dekho Apna Desh&#8221; (See Your Country) and &#8220;Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat&#8221; (One India, Best India) visions to promote domestic tourism.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Purpose and Significance of the Journey</h2>



<p>The Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train aims to promote Indian culture and religious sites. This journey will cover places associated with the life and legacy of Lord Rama. The IRCTC&#8217;s special tour, spanning 17 days, will visit Ayodhya, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Buxar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi, Rameshwaram, and then return to Delhi.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Places to be Visited</h2>



<p>The first stop will be Ayodhya, where the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, Hanuman Garhi, and Saryu Ghat will be visited. Following this, the train will proceed to Buxar in Bihar to visit the Ram-Janaki Temple and other religious sites. Next, the tour will visit Nasik, where the Panchavati area and Trimbakeshwar Temple will be visited. Finally, the tour will conclude with a visit to the Ramanathaswamy Temple and Dhanushkodi in Rameshwaram. On the 17th day, the train will return to Delhi.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Amenities on Board</h2>



<p>Passengers can book seats with a 25% payment. The train offers several amenities, including two modern kitchens, two restaurants, sensor-based washrooms, foot massagers, and AC coaches. Each coach also has security guards and CCTV cameras.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Boarding Points</h2>



<p>Passengers can board and alight from the train at Delhi, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Etawah, Tundla, Lucknow, and Kanpur stations.</p>
