
<p>Imphal CRPF Camp Shootout: A horrific incident shocked the nation on Thursday at 8:20 PM in Imphal West district, Manipur. Head Constable Sanjay Kumar Meghwal from Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, opened fire on his own unit personnel. Sub-Inspector Tilak Raj and Constable Rajiv Ranjan died on the spot, while eight other personnel sustained serious injuries. Meghwal subsequently committed suicide using his service rifle.</p>

<p>A resident of Bigodana village, Pilani, Jhunjhunu, Sanjay Kumar joined the CRPF in 2003. He was a Head Constable in the 120th Battalion and had recently been transferred from Meghalaya to Manipur. His actions, just five days after arriving in Manipur, have raised many questions. He is survived by his wife, Anita, 14-year-old daughter Ekta, and 9-year-old son Amit.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why did the shooting happen…?</h2>



<p>A thorough investigation is underway. Experts suggest that the incident could be attributed to mental stress, pressure from the posting, an internal dispute within the camp, an internal conspiracy, or a conflict. The matter is being investigated seriously.</p>



<p>The injured personnel have been admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal. While the CRPF is yet to release an official statement, investigations into the cause of the incident have been expedited. Meghwal’s body is being transported to his ancestral village, Bigodana, via Delhi. The funeral is expected to take place by this afternoon. The village is in mourning, and his family is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.</p>

As a result, millions of families enrolled in the scheme are struggling to collect their February wheat rations from fair price shops. Meanwhile, department officials are quietly admitting that, according to the provisions of the Act, no beneficiary can be deprived of receiving wheat.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deadline Extended to 31 March</h2>



<p>Food Department officials state that the deadline for eKYC completion was 31 January. Following this, the department blocked 3.4 million ration cards. After the ensuing uproar, the deadline for eKYC completion was extended to 31 March. Now, from 1 April, the names of beneficiaries who have not completed their eKYC will be removed from the food security scheme.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Department&#8217;s Hastiness Burdens Beneficiaries</h2>



<p>In an attempt to garner praise for removing ineligible beneficiaries, department officials blocked ration cards. Later, to avoid further criticism, they stated that beneficiaries whose ration cards were blocked could reactivate them by completing their eKYC at the fair price shops.</p>

<p>Excise Department: The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department has cautioned applicants to use only the official portal for applying and to beware of any brokers or agents. The department has also released helpline numbers for assistance with the application process.</p>

<p>Register on the portal. First, open the e-lottery portal. Click on the &#8220;Register&#8221; button on the homepage. Log in and update your profile. After registration, click on &#8220;Registered Applicant Login&#8221; on the homepage. Change your password on your first login and update your profile information. Upload the applicant&#8217;s photo and click the &#8220;Save&#8221; and then &#8220;Next&#8221; button. Upload necessary documents. Fill in bank details and upload a cancelled cheque (less than 100 KB). Upload income tax returns, PAN card (less than 100 KB), and proof of identity (less than 200 KB). After uploading all documents, click the &#8220;Confirm Profile&#8221; button to save your profile.</p>

<p>On Friday night, at a marriage garden in Sheopur city, the wedding of Pradeep Jat was taking place. Dressed as a groom, Pradeep, riding a horse and dancing, arrived with the wedding party to collect his bride. After the ceremonial entrance, as he rode towards the stage, he suddenly collapsed. Anganwadi jobs: MA/BTech degree holders in line too, 15,000 applications for 362 posts!


<p><strong>Anganwadi Jobs:</strong> Recently, a recruitment drive for Anganwadi Workers was conducted in the Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The application deadline was 31 January 2025. While only 362 positions were available, over 15,000 applications were received. Remarkably, many applicants held MA and B.Tech degrees.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Women with MA and B.Tech Degrees Apply</h2>



<p>According to a report published in the digital edition of a Hindi newspaper, 15,000 women applied for the 362 positions. Surprisingly, many women with MA and even B. Tech degrees were willing to forgo their higher education for this job, which offers a monthly honorarium of just ₹8,000. Seventeen applicants held B. Tech degrees and some even possessed PhDs. Overall, thousands of applicants possessed significantly higher educational qualifications than the minimum requirement.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Educational Qualification For Anganwadi Jobs</h2>



<p>Currently, Muradabad district has 2770 Anganwadi centres. Of these, 362 Anganwadi Worker positions are vacant across eight blocks, including the municipal corporation. Prayagraj Accident: Ten Pilgrims Killed in Head-on Collision


<p>A major accident occurred in Prayagraj at approximately 2 am on Friday. A Bolero vehicle carrying pilgrims from Chhattisgarh to the Maha Kumbh collided head-on with a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj main road, near Manu ke Pura village, under the Meja police station area. The impact destroyed the Bolero, resulting in the immediate death of ten pilgrims.</p>



<p>Police arrived at the scene and used a JCB to remove the bodies from the wreckage. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination. The accident caused widespread panic and distress. It has been reported that the bus involved in the accident was also returning from the Maha Kumbh and was carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh.</p>

<p>Rajasthan Tourism: Alwar is set to get the NCR&#8217;s largest zoo. The government has approved ₹2 crore for the project, and the Forest Department will be issuing tenders this month. The zoo&#8217;s construction will be modelled after the Arignar Anna Zoological Park (Chennai) in Tamil Nadu. The first phase will cost ₹25 crore.</p>



<p>The zoo will span 95 hectares. The government has allocated 35 hectares of land near Kati Ghati and Jaysamand. It will house over 150 animal species, with dedicated enclosures and a separate aviary. Several snake species will also be on display.</p>



<p>The zoo will also feature plants attractive to visitors. The Forest Department has prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR). A Forest Department official stated that a top firm with expertise in this area will be selected for the project.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Funding in the Budget</h2>



<p>Given the zoo&#8217;s scale, the state government may announce funding in the upcoming budget. It is understood that ₹25 crore is insufficient for the project, and therefore, approval for the full project cost may be sought.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Trees to be Cut</h2>



<p>Existing trees around Kati Ghati and Jaysamand will be preserved. Paths will be created amongst the trees, with only denser bushes potentially removed.</p>

<p>Damage to the intestinal lining, increasing intestinal permeability.<br>Harmful particles can enter the bloodstream, causing inflammation in the body.<br>This inflammation can weaken the heart and circulatory system, increasing the risk of heart disease.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Did the Study Find?</h2>



<p>Researchers adopted a two-pronged approach to reach this conclusion.</p>



<p><strong>First part –</strong> The eating habits of over 3,000 people in China were studied and their heart conditions were examined.</p>



<p><strong>Second part:</strong> Mice were exposed to plastic chemicals. For this, hot water was poured into plastic containers, the dissolved chemicals were extracted and given to the mice.</p>



<p>Those who ate food from plastic containers more frequently showed a significantly higher risk of heart failure.</p>

<p><strong>Adopt glass or steel containers:</strong> Use glass or stainless steel containers instead of plastic whenever possible.</p>

The research found the highest risk associated with estrogen-containing contraceptives, particularly vaginal rings and skin patches.</p>



<p>However, researchers say the overall risk is low, but because these contraceptives are widely used, doctors should consider these potential risks when prescribing them.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Contraceptives Are Most Dangerous?</h2>



<p>This study reviewed the medical records of over 2 million Danish women aged 15-49 between 1996 and 2021. Women with pre-existing conditions such as blood clots, cancer, liver and kidney disease, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, or mental health issues were excluded from the study.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Contraceptives Pose the Highest Risk?</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Combined estrogen-progestin pills (the most commonly used pill) –</strong></h3>



<p>This can double the risk of ischaemic stroke and heart attack.<br>One in 4,760 women faces a risk of stroke, and one in 10,000 faces a risk of heart attack.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Progestin-only contraceptives (pills and implants) –</strong></h3>



<p>Slightly increased risk, but lower than combined pills.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Other combined contraceptives besides pills (vaginal ring and patch) –</strong></h3>



<p><strong>Vaginal ring:</strong> Increased risk of ischaemic stroke by 2.4 times and heart attack by 3.8 times.<br><strong>Skin patch:</strong> Increased risk of ischaemic stroke by 3.4 times.</p>

IIT Bombay Admission: JEE Advanced Score and Rank Requirements

<p>IIT Bombay is among India&#8217;s top IITs. Admission during JoSAA counselling depends on candidate preferences, JEE Advanced scores, reservation category, and other factors. Admission also depends on whether the student has achieved the required JEE score for their desired branch.</p>
