<p>He said, “The wicket was a bit slow, but we thought if we could restrict them to under 200, it would be really good. We know these conditions well. We need to bat well in the middle overs. <p><strong>UPSC 2024 Final Result:</strong>Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has once again made headlines with a remarkable achievement in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE). Shakti Dubey, a resident of Prayagraj, secured the top rank (AIR 1) in the UPSC CSE 2024. Harshita Goyal secured the second position, followed by Archit Parag Dongre in third, Margi Chirag Shah in fourth, and Aakash Garg in fifth.</p>

<p><strong>Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana Top Wisden Cricketers:</strong> Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named the world&#8217;s best male cricketer in the prestigious Wisden Cricketers&#8217; Almanack 2025. Alongside him, Indian women&#8217;s cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been awarded the honour of best female cricketer of the year. This year&#8217;s awards saw a strong Indian presence. However, the Best T20 cricketer award went to Nicholas Pooran.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bumrah Named &#8216;Star of the Year&#8217;</h2>



<p>Jasprit Bumrah, who in 2024 became the first-ever Test bowler to take 200 wickets at an average of under 20, has been described as the &#8216;Star of the Year&#8217; by Wisden editor Lawrence Booth. Bumrah took 71 Test wickets at an average of under 15 and played a crucial role in India&#8217;s T20 World Cup victory in the Caribbean in June. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah alone took 32 wickets at an average of 13.06. Booth wrote that he was devastating. He also claimed Bumrah to be among the greatest ever.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Smriti Mandhana World&#8217;s Best Female Player</h2>



<p>Indian women&#8217;s cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been named the world&#8217;s best female player by Wisden. Mandhana scored 1659 runs across all formats in 2024, the most runs scored by a female player in a calendar year in international cricket. This includes four ODI centuries, another record. Mandhana also scored her second Test century (149) in a ten-wicket victory against South Africa in June.</p>

<p>Ratlam: The installation of Kavach 4.0, a modern safety system for Indian Railways, is underway, promising safer train travel by the end of this year. Installation on the crucial Delhi-Mumbai rail route, connecting the nation&#8217;s capital to its financial hub, is in its final stages. The railway has set a deadline of 25 December 2025 to complete Kavach installation on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah rail routes. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally inspected trials of Kavach 4.0 on these routes. This will enable trains to run at speeds of 160 kmph between Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah from January 2026.</p>



<p>In the Ratlam, Vadodara, and Mumbai railway divisions of Western Railway, loco trials have been successfully conducted after the installation of Kavach 4.0 across 405 km out of a total of 789 km. Sixty locos in Western Railway have been equipped with this technology. According to the railway&#8217;s deadline, this 1385-kilometre rail route will be equipped with Kavach&#8217;s safety features by the end of this year.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Increased Speed, Reduced Accidents</h2>



<p>According to senior railway officials, the fully indigenous Kavach 4.0 safety system has the capability to prevent train collisions and enhance safety. This technology will not only help prevent rail accidents but will also prove effective in increasing train speeds and preventing signal passing at danger situations. A key feature of Kavach is its ability to detect and prevent head-on, rear-end, and side collisions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Assistance for Loco Pilots</h2>



<p>This system will also assist loco pilots in operating trains even in foggy and low-visibility conditions. Installation work is progressing rapidly on two important rail routes in the country. Initially, the railway had set a deadline of March 2025, but this has now been extended to 25 December 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Trains to Run at 160 kmph</h2>



<p>By the end of this year, passengers on the Delhi-Mumbai rail route will be able to travel comfortably and quickly under the safety of Kavach 4.0. Under Mission Raftaar, passenger trains on this route will also be able to run at a speed of 160 kilometres per hour.</p>

<p><strong>SSC GD Constable Vacancy 2025:</strong> The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will now fill a total of 53,690 positions under the GD Constable recruitment 2025. This is an increase of 14,209 positions from the initial figure of 39,481, based on revised details received from various security forces. The recruitment process will fill Constable (GD), Rifleman, and Sepoy positions in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Assam Rifles, Special Security Force (SSF), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">SSC GD Constable Total Seats: Increase in Male, Female, and Category-wise Vacancies</h2>



<p>Initially, 35,612 positions were allocated for men and 3,869 for women. These numbers have now increased to 48,320 and 5,370, respectively. The highest increase of 9,426 positions was recorded in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) alone, where there are now a total of 16,571 vacancies, compared to 7,145 at the time applications opened.</p>

<p>This year, a record 5,269,500 candidates applied for the recruitment exam, compared to 4,745,501 in 2024. The SSC invited objections on the answer key between 4 and 9 March 2025, and candidates are now awaiting the final answer key and results. After the results are released, selected candidates will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), medical tests, and document verification. <p>In an interview with the YouTube channel Digital Commentary, the film&#8217;s director, Puneet Issar, said: “Salman and I have been friends for a long time. When I narrated the story of &#8216;Garv&#8217; to him, he liked it, but he said, ‘Why did you bring this script to me? It&#8217;s a Sunny Deol type of film.’”</p>



<p>At that time, Salman was only seen in &#8216;lover boy&#8217; and comedic roles, such as in <i>Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Biwi No. 1, Judwaa</i> etc.</p>

<p><strong>JEE Main Session 2 Success Story:</strong> The results of the JEE Main Session 2 were declared on the night of 18 April. This time, a total of 24 candidates achieved a 100 NTA score. In this year&#8217;s results, 3 candidates each from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh achieved 100 percentile. <p>To top the JEE Main, Kushagra studied for about 12-13 hours every day. He told the media that whenever he felt stressed, he would go out to play. But after playing, he would immediately sit down to study. Kushagra&#8217;s favourite subjects were Maths and Physics. Therefore, he dreamt of becoming an engineer. Kushagra credited his success to his institute, saying that regular tests helped him clarify his concepts.</p>

<p>After passing the JEE Main Session 2 exam, Kushagra now wants to focus on JEE Advanced. His dream college is IIT Bombay or IIT Madras. He wants to pursue engineering in Computer Science (CS). Regarding the intense competition for seats in IITs, he says that there is a lot of competition, but success can still be achieved through hard work.</p>

According to the NIRF Ranking 2024, IIT Madras remained in first place. This is the sixth consecutive time it has been the best educational institution in the country.</p>
